What motivates the people behind regional circular economies?  Often, it’s the simple things in everyday life.. Shopping at the farm stand, community life in the village, hotels and restaurants that use regional products, and businesses that are rethinking their operations and taking responsibility.

People like Kurt Resch from the Steineggerhof show what this looks like in everyday life. For him, regional partnerships are an integral part of hospitality. Kurt Niederfringer of Holzius, who is rethinking wood as a building material and focusing on regional value creation.     4 train lines, 200 bus routes, and 550 km of bike paths make it easy to explore South Tyrol at your own pace and with flexibility. Hop on the train, take the bus to the next valley or explore the countryside on two wheels. Often, the experience of nature begins while you're still on the way. With the Südtirol Guest Pass , you can get around easily with just one ticket and reach many destinations without needing a car.

  • 2,467 drinking water stations

    Our drinking water stations make it easy to access fresh drinking water while on the go. At numerous refill stations, you can refill your water bottle for free and avoid single-use plastic. South Tyrol drinking water is regularly tested to ensure high water quality.

How to recognise a certified place to stay

The South Tyrol Sustainability Label® identifies places to stay that have chosen to take concrete steps to care for the region, use resources more efficiently and strengthen local value chains. It stands for more than a statement of intent. It marks a verified and certified pathway aligned with GSTC criteria.

The South Tyrol Sustainability Label® certifies accommodations, restaurants, towns, and vacation regions that meet specific criteria in the areas of the environment, social responsibility, culture, and management. The criteria are based on the internationally recognised standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and are reviewed on a regular basis.

The requirements cover various areas, including energy, mobility, regional value creation, waste management, social responsibility and collaboration with local partners. Compliance with the criteria is regularly reviewed.
