The approximately 4 Kilometer long small asphalt road passes along the Pragser Berg/Braies mountain from Schmieden/Ferrara to St. Veit/San Vito. The sunny trail offers a wonderful view ofer the valley and the mountainous panorama. Walking time: 1,5 hours

This hike leads to one of the most beautiful high plateaus in South Tyrol in the heart of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plätzwiese high plateau fascinates with an overwhelming view of the surrounding mountains of the Dolomites. Dominating everything is the northernmost 3000 metre peak in the Dolomites - the Hohe Gaisl (3146m).

The walk over the broad gravel way to the “Malga Wöggen/Wöggenalm” begins behind the “maso Steinwandter/Steinwandterhof” at S. Vito/St. Veit. At the advancement over the height way you have a great view on the green meadows and idyllic Braies Lake with its emerald-green water! The “Malga Wöggen/Wöggenalm” is uninhabited. An easy hike for the whole family! Along the old military road from the first World War, in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage site with views of imposing Dolomites peaks, such as Hohe Gaisel peak, Tofane and Monte Cristallo, you walk towards the Dürrensteinhütte hut.
The Dürrensteinhütte hut is open during the entire winter season.

From Ponticello/Brückele along the main road to the third turn, then follow the hiking path n. 18 along the Stolla River to Malga Stolla/Stolla Alm; continue up-and-down alpine pastures to Prato Piazza/Plätzwiese. Very easy walk on the "Kirchweg" path with a view over the Pustertal valley.

When the sun barely appears for two months in the village of Schmieden/Ferrara and hides behind the vast mountain massif of the Herrenstein peak, the farms just above the village enjoy the bright sunshine. Enjoy the extended view of the Pragsertal valley during a hike along the sunny side of the village. Starting in Schmieden/Ferrara or St. Veit/S. Vito you follow the road leading to the highest farms in the village. The Moserhof guesthouse awaits you - warm up in the cosy rooms and taste some regional specialities.

The approximately 1,5 kilometer long lern-path is easily passable and pass by the fishpond of Bagni di Braies Vecchia/Bad Altprags. Along the path explain many informationsboards the main characteristics of the spring. Walking time: 1 hour Sign-post: No. 37
Easy circular trail in the midst of snow-covered forests. From time to time you can enjoy a view of the centre of Schmieden/ Ferrara and the traditional farms on the Pragser Berg mountain.

Specatcular peak with breathtaking 360°-view! Along the western shore of the lake to the south-eastern end of the lake, then upwards to Buco del Giavo/Nabiges Loch cross the valley to the other side and to the right to Porta sora al Forn. From there, the trail branches off to the right over rocky terrain to the summit. Exposed sections are secured with wire rope. Sign-post: No 1, from “Rifugio Biella” without number - marked in red Challenge: very demanding, vertigo and slip resistance required!

This easy excursion is dedicated to the famous pioneer of mountaineering Viktor Wolf Edler von Glanvell and leads from Schmieden/Ferrara to the impressive Pragser Wildsee lake. You mostly walk through the beautiful and characteristical wood, which represents the original access to the lake.
