Streams, rivers and mountain lakes make South Tyrol an attractive region for angling and fishing. The majority of the waters are inhabited by trout. While locals in South Tyrol require a fishing licence and a fishing certification, guests are permitted to purchase the necessary licence while on holiday. This is valid for ten years. The Lago Gioveretto is an artificial lake in the Ortler Alps in South Tyrol. The reservoir has an area of 70ha, situated at an altitude of 1850m in Val Martello and is crossed by the river Plima. The storage capacity is 19.6million cubic meters. The reservoir is situated in the Stelvio National Park and is used for generation of energy. The associated hydroelectric power station is located in Lasa.
From June to September you are allowed to fish with a state licence. You can buy the ticket at the keeper of the dam.

The Fishing Sports Club Bruneck/Brunico was founded in 1963. The sport-fishing area is one of the most well known fishing areas in the whole valley and a lovely meeting place for sport fishers during the summertime.
Trout fishing on Rio Gardena: day tickets are available at the Val Gardena Tourist Offices. Guests from abroad who possess a foreign angling permit can purchase a local angling permit (validity 10 years) at the Tourist Office S.Cristina.

Hotel Lè dla Creda is accessible from S. Vigilio direction Pederü in nearly 3 km. You get there by car, by public transport as well as walk along a beautiful path.

The northernmost area around Resia Lake retains its own fishing rights. Fishermen can enjoy their hobby with 2 fishing from the shore in the lake Reschensee. Boat fishing is not permitted. The fishing season begins on mid of May and ends on mid of September.
Numerous fish live in the mountain lake next to the Edelweisshütte in Ladurns. Fishing equipment can be borrowed at the Edelweisshütte.
