In recent years, science also seems to have been affected by a loss of public trust. In any case, scientific findings are now often loudly questioned, even if the motives are sometimes transparent. However, science itself is a form of organised doubt, although in a form that sees itself as ‘reasonable’. But what exactly this might mean, and why and what we should all doubt more often - and perhaps least of all science - are the questions we want to examine this evening.
