By cable car, we ascend to Kronplatz (2275m), where we enjoy a magnificent view of the Alps and the Dolomites. At the summit of Kronplatz, we marvel at the largest bell in the Alps: the Concordia. The tour along the panoramic path reveals the breathtaking beauty of the South Tyrolean mountains. The hike concludes at the summit of Kronplatz, providing the opportunity to visit the Messner Mountain Museum or participate in various activities offered at the summit. Our downhill basic technique training in the bike park at Kronplatz is the ideal introduction to the exciting world of downhill mountain biking. In this course, participants learn the fundamentals of riding technique, including correct body positioning, line selection, and how to safely master steep slopes. Under the guidance of experienced technical guides, participants can improve their skills and enjoy the adrenaline of downhill riding in a breathtaking environment. A prerequisite for this course is participation in the basic technique training or already having mastered MTB basic techniques. Farmers' market in Bruneck! Eleven farmers sell every Friday their own products: vegetables, fruits, jams, bread, eggs, meat and cheese in the center of Bruneck

The starting and ending point of this interesting and panoramic circular hike is the village of Welsberg/Monguelfo (1,087m), which we reach sustainably in a short, pleasant train ride. First, we walk through the charming village center until we reach the entrance of the panoramic path. You walk in a magnificent natural landscape on the sunny side of Welsberg/Monguelfo, with a constant view of the Dolomites, the striking Dürrenstein and "Mister Kronplatz". Passing farms, you reach the fascinating, mystical Taisten Legend Trail (1,330m). Sculptures made of wood and a far-reaching view accompany us on this adventure hiking trail to the beautiful sunny village of Taisten/Tesido (1,200m), situated on a wonderful sun terrace between mountain and valley. Via the Kirchsteig and the Dorfweg we hike back to Welsberg/Monguelfo train station. Total distance: approx. 9 km Altitude difference ascent: approx. 250 m Duration/pure walking time: 3-4 hrs. In the “Photopsia” exhibition—a term that describes a visual disturbance manifesting in the form of hallucinatory perceptions—, Krottendorfer ties together three different projects about fictions from the early modern age. “Mountains of Kong”—a mountain range in Africa which was included in maps of the world until the early 20th century despite the fact that it never existed, showcasing a colonial-era production of fictitious knowledge about Africa. “Point of View”—the Chinese cabinets of the Hofburg in Brixen/Bressanone and Neustift Abbey, bearing witness to a romanticized view of an imaginary “Orient” but also to the power coming from the depiction of the world. “Phantom of the Poles”—In 1906, William Reed published a book of the same name in which he postulates that there is another world located inside the Earth, perhaps even unknown civilizations—an early form of “alternative facts”? All three projects allow us to reflect on the role of photography in the space between reality and fiction, truth and fallacy in our very own present.

Wind. The clouds, the sun, the moon. The stars. Water. Life. The quiet. Lukas Schäfer, born in 1992, hails from St.Georgen/San Giorgio in the Pustertal valley. He grew up between the Dolomites and the main ridge of the Alps. Even when he was a young child, his parents would show him the mountains. Ever since then, Lukas has been fascinated by nature, its landscapes, its details, and its animals. Lukas competed in professional freeskiing events before he got injured and discovered nature photography. He was immediately captivated. From that moment on, Lukas has rediscovered the mountains and their inhabitants time and time again with his camera. His passion would eventually turn into a profession. Some of his photographs and films have already won international awards. His debut book titled “Südtirol, Secrets of Nature” is a collection of photos and stories from South Tyrol and its border regions.

Markus Krottendorfer is showing his projects MOUNTAINS OF KONG from 2016 and PHANTOM OF THE POLES 2019-2023. Another series will be realized especially for the exhibition at LUMEN. “Have you ever heard the sound of falling rocks?” is the title of a six-month journey that took place in 2022 across the Alps, in Italy, France, Switzerland, and Austria. A visual investigation of a phenomenon that is as important as it is little-known: the degradation of the permafrost. In cooperation with ISPA - Italian Sustainabilty Photo Award.

Accompanied by the instructors of the Bike School, enter the heart of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and be enraptured by the spectacle offered by the forests and mountains of the Dolomites. But it‘s not only your eyes that will be satisfied: you are in a true MTB paradise and can fully enjoy yourself in a rollercoaster of breathtaking ascents and descents. Please note: the route has a minimum altitude difference of 1000 m. To enjoy the experience at its best, and to make it accessible to everyone, we ask you to use an electric bike. Bike and helmet are not included.
