The special exhibition “Die Hutterer. A Search for Traces in Klausen” is accompanied by the collaborative UNIKA exhibition under the Ladin title “PESC” (meaning PEACE) – an ideal that connects both exhibitions at the Civic Museum Klausen. They are part of the initiatives for the Euregio Museums Year 2025 “weiter sehen,” which, in memory of the Peasants’ War of 1525, addresses contemporary themes. The Hutterites A Search for Traces in Klausen The nearly 500-year history of the Hutterites, who were expelled from Tyrol in the 16th century, is that of a minority that was marginalized and persecuted due to their religious beliefs and communal organization. However, their story is also one of plurality and openness to foreign ideas. The teachings of the Anabaptists found great support in Tyrol, including in Klausen. One of the most significant preachers and religious leaders of the Hutterites, Peter Walpot, was a native of Klausen. At the same time, the Hutterites were subjected to relentless persecution, as evidenced by well-documented cases from Klausen. Jakob Huter, born near St. Lorenzen, took on the leadership of the Anabaptists in Tyrol at an early stage and organized their communal life. In the 16th century, the Anabaptists moved to tolerant Moravia, marking a period of prosperity. From the 17th century onward, they were forced to migrate further until they eventually reached North America. Here, despite facing some crises, they managed to preserve their faith and a well-functioning community to this day. The spring hike on the sunny slope of Barbian leads past fields of flowers, streams, chestnut trees and historic buildings to "Dreikirchen". Meeting place at 10am at the Information Office Barbian. Hiking time: 3,5 hours, return at around 4pm, easy hike, good footwear, rain shelter. For members of the Tourist Association Klausen, Barbian, Feldthurns and Villanders the hiking is free, for non-members it costs 8,00€ each. The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). IMPORTANT: arrive at the mine at least 10 minutes in advance! Individual special tours are available all year round on request. All prices can be found on the mine's website.

Free guided tours of the Swiss Mountain Pine Oil Distillery on the Alps of Barbiano/Barbian from 14th May until 29th October 2025 every Wednesday from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere. Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.

The Radlsee refuge is located high above the Eisack Valley on the legendary Radlsee lake in the basin between the Königangerspitze and Hundskopf peaks. On the way, we learn a lot about alpine herbs, mountain farming and the formation of the Alps and Dolomites. The moderately difficult hike is worthwhile with its breathtaking mountain panorama and relaxing tranquillity on the mountain. Route: Via hiking trail no. 14 and no. 10 to the Radlseehütte, same way back Start: 9.30 am Kühhof car park, hiking bus possible, walking time approx. 5 hours, basic fitness required, height difference 850 m, return at 4.30 pm P. Participants first walk about 600 meters into the Elisabethstollen, then climb up a staircase (300 steps and 65 vertical meters) in an ore mining shaft to the Lorenzstollen.Then we walk about 400 meters back through the Lorenzstollen to the exit and through a path to the starting point. Duration: about 2 hours Please be there at least 10 minutes before the tour starts.

The panoramic high-level hike leads us through pine forests to beautiful high alpine pastures in the direction of the Radlsee lake, Brugger Schupfe and back to the Kühhof.
