The “Ahrtour” bike route runs through the entire Tauferer Ahrntal valley and promises an adventurous trip through nature itself. From the start in Bruneck/Brunico until Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures, the Ahrtour is a fairly flat and easy ride. This bike tour is an adventure for athletes and amateur bikers alike and of course it can also be enjoyed in individual sections.
Our route description through the Tauferer Ahrntal valley - begins in Bruneck/Brunico and takes you to Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures. An ideal starting point for the bikeroute is the bus station in Bruneck/Brunico. There are plenty of car parking spaces available there. From this spot you follow the signs on the main road leading towards Ahrntal-Valle Aurina/Sand in Taufers-Campo Tures. The biking path starts just outside of the center and it runs parallel to the main road taking you to the residential area of St. Georgen/San Giorgio. After a short ascent on the paved road on the right side of the river and through the fields, you will reach the village of Gais. Passing the children’s playground in the center, the bike route passes by the craftsmen’s zone and then through fields and meadows into the village of Uttenheim/Villa Ottone. From there you take the paved road through the fields to Kematen/Caminata. From Kematen/Caminata there are various possibilities to reach Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures. The best way is on the right side of the river towards Bad Winkl/Cantuccio and the hamlet of Winkl heading towards St. Moritzen/San Maurizio. On the right mountain-side at the end of the village, you will see the Castle Taufers (up to this point you can use trekking or city-bikes).
