Additional information
This hike offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the wonderful landscapes of the Dolomites, starting in Ortisei and ending at Passo Sella. We begin our adventure in Ortisei, a charming town in Val Gardena, famous for its craft tradition and spectacular mountain views. From here, we follow the picturesque old railway path (also called Luis Trenker Promenade), a historic route that leads us to S. Cristina. Before reaching the village, we head towards path no. 30B, which will take us towards Monte Pana. During the ascent, we encounter the small but fascinating Tervela waterfall. This is a great spot for a short break, to refresh and take some photos. We then continue the walk until the junction where we proceed on path no. 23, delving further into the unspoiled nature. The route then joins path no. 528 towards Tramans. From here, the views of the Sassolungo group become increasingly spectacular, with the rocky massifs dominating the horizon.
We finally arrive at the Rifugio Comici, where we can plan a break. This hut is the ideal place to rest and enjoy the unique mountain atmosphere, perhaps savoring some local specialties. From the Rifugio Comici, we continue on path no. 526 and then on 526C, crossing the beautiful City of Stones, an area characterized by huge boulders and rock formations that create an almost surreal landscape. At the end of this stretch, we reach our destination: Passo Sella.
For the return, we can retrace the same path or take the bus line 471 towards Selva (Plan) and then change bus line to return to Ortisei (350, 306, or 352).
