Back in the day, Pfaff sewing machines were sold from door to door – and that’s exactly what Josef Mohr from Swabia did. He opened the shop in the Portici in 1911 and the range of products also included typewriters and, at a later stage, gramophones, and records. His sons, Alfred and Karl, grew the business with the help of their wives by adding repair and delivery services. Christian Mohr represents the third generation to run the business, and the trained sewing machine technician became the store owner in 1990. He learnt the importance of diligent work and being close to one’s customers from his father Karl and mother Maria, phased out the slowly shrivelling music department with its outdated CDs after renovating the store, and got rid of wool and knitting utensils to expand his sewing clientele with more professional and numerous services.
