And you’ll be travelling sustainably and for a fraction of the price, to boot! Driving by bus is one of the most sustainable ways to explore South Tyrol. No queues, no hours driving around looking for a free parking spot – oh no. All you have to do is get off the bus, walk to your accommodation and let the holiday begin. What’s more, you can already dive headfirst into South Tyrol’s unique ambience and share the feeling and sense of anticipation with fellow passengers.

FlixBus to South Tyrol

Daily (throughout the year) connections from different European cities to South Tyrol.

  • From Munich: FlixBus boasts 13 daily connections to Bolzano/Bozen. The first bus leaves at 2:40, the last one at 23:15, and the average drive lasts around 3 hours and 40 minutes.
  • From Innsbruck: there are countless daily connections lasting around 2 hours – a quick and pleasant trip to South Tyrol.
  • From Zurich: FlixBus also has direct routes from Zurich to Bolzano. The average trip lasts around 4 hours and 30 minutes depending on the connection.
  • From Milan: FlixBus departs from different stations in Milan such as Milano Centrale train station or Milano Malpensa airport. The quickest route will take you to Bolzano in under 4 hours.
  • FlixBus also connects other European cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Warsaw, and Prague to South Tyrol. Some trips are quick and direct, while others are laid-back overnight journeys. Visit the FlixBus website for available connections.

Travel from Munich to Meran/Merano and its surroundings

Travel from Munich to Meran/Merano and its surroundings

For holiday-goers who’ve chosen to make Meran or its surroundings their holiday paradise, they can travel from Munich’s main bus station (the ZOB) to Meran, Algund/Lagundo, Dorf Tirol/Tirolo, Schenna/Scena, Naturns/Naturno, and Partschins/Parcines, Rabland/Rablà, and Töll/Tel twice a week. From these stops, they can use the local bus service to travel to their holiday destination and back.

  • 2025 dates
    From Munich: on Wednesdays and Sundays between 16 March and 9 November 2025
  • Renovation works will take place as of January 2025 on the Lueg bridge on the Brenner motorway (A13). This will cause single-lane traffic in both directions. Due to the already heavy traffic on Saturdays, the Meraner Land Express’ usual SATURDAY run was changed to SUNDAY.

Shipping and storing your luggage

Insam Express will ship your luggage to South Tyrol. A courier will pick up your suitcases at home and deliver them to your chosen location. You can also leave your luggage – or even bikes! – at the Basecamp Dolomites in Bolzano’s train station for a couple of hours or even days.

Südtirol Transfer

With Südtirol Transfer  almost all accommodation in South Tyrol is easily accessible from the long-distance bus stops in Bolzano/Bozen, Meran/Merano, Klausen/Chiusa, Vahrn/Varna and Sterzing/Vipiteno. You can book the Südtirol Transfer shuttle several times a day from the locations above to your accommodation. Opt for a shared or an individual transfer.
