In the realm of King Laurin
The red alpenglow of the Rosengarten massif is one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the Dolomites
Craggy gorges, precipitous cliffs and towers with dizzying heights. The Rosengarten massif is a jagged landscape. But in the evening, when the sun sets, the pale Dolomite rocks glow red. A phenomenon called "Enrosadira", which is the subject of a legend: the Dwarf King Laurin commissined a rose garden planting on the mountain and after he put a curse on it, it became invisible to everyone’s eyes, during daytime and at night. However, he didn’t bear in mind sunsets; that time of the day when the Rosengarten massif was shining in all shades of red.
Many vie ferrate and hiking trails lead through this legendary area. They are still fairly easy also in autumn. The Kesselkogel mountain, with a summit elevation of 3,004 m, is the highest mountain of the Rosengarten mountain range. As the second highest peak, the Rosengartenspitze peak towers over the massif named after it. In the middle of the mountain massif rise the Vajolet Towers . Its climbing routes are among the most famous in the Dolomites. From the summit you have an astounding view of Bolzano/Bozen, the Sella massif and the rest of the Dolomites.
