Sellaronda road bike tour

Corvara/Corvara, Corvara, Dolomites Region Alta Badia
from center

The Sellaronda circuit round the Sella massif has long been a winter favourite.

However, in recent years the Sellaronda circuit has also become a popular challenge for cyclists.

The twisty Alpine roads at the foot of the Dolomite peaks are like a dream come true for racing cyclists. The gradients on the circuit are mostly between 8 and 10 %, it is classed as moderately difficult. The asphalt roads are mostly in good condition, although there are small potholes on some sections.

Distance 51.4 Km
Ascent 1674 m
Descent 1674 m
Highest point 2228 m
Lowest point 1529 m
Additional information
The proposed tour starts and ends in Corvara, following an anti-clockwise route. From Corvara, head towards Colfosco and continue up to the Gardena Pass, where gradients can vary but sometimes reach 13%. After reaching the pass, descend to the junction with the Sella Pass and then climb up to the pass. Continue downhill until just before Canazei, then wind back up to the Pordoi Pass. The descent to Arabba features over 30 bends but is relatively smooth. The final climb takes you from Arabba to the Campolongo Pass, followed by a 7 km descent back to Corvara.

Additional details: Every year in June, the passes around the Sella group are closed to motorized traffic for an entire day during the Sellaronda Bike Day, an event dedicated exclusively to cyclists.
