One of the most beautiful snowshoe hikes is the tour from the beautiful Plätzwiese high plateau (2000 m) past the Dürrenstein hut to the magnificent Strudelkopf peak with its viewpoint (2300 m). This excursion is easy and ideal for all ages.
Starting point: Plätzwiese high plateau (2,000 m)
Arrival: Strudelkopf peak (2,307 m)

Itinerary

You start from the car park at the Plätzwiese high plateau and continue to the Dürrenstein hut. Turn left there and start the snowshoe hike on trail no. 34 in the direction of Strudelkopf peak. At the saddle (2,200 m), turn right towards the Strudelkopf peak. Once you reach the summit cross, also known as the "Heimkehrerkreuz", you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Tofane, Monte Cristallo and the Three Peaks along with the rest of the Sextner Dolomites.

Directions

Valley entrance Prags/Braies - road junction to Plätzwiese high plateau - continue until Brückele/Ponticello. From Brückele/Ponticello until Plätzwiese high plateau there is a traffic regulation (drive up is possible until 10 a.m. and after 3 p.m.) - attention: snow tire or snow chains are obligated. Shuttle service available.
