Cross-country skiing in Carezza on the sunny side with a fantastic view of the Dolomite giants Rosengarten | Catinaccio and Latemar.
Stage 3 of the Dolomites World Heritage Geotrail II leads from the Karer Pass/Passo Costalunga through the heart of the Rosengarten mountain range, past the reef of the Schlern and on to the Tierser Alpl Mountain Refuge. The hiker will cross different environments of the Triassic atoll: the deep sea (Karerpass/Passo di Costalunga), the underwater escarpment (Rosengarten Massif) and the inner lagoon (Torri del Vajolet).
The short hike to the LATEMAR.360° panoramic platform is a must for families and nature lovers alike. From the top station of the Oberholz panoramic chairlift, an easy, well-maintained trail leads in just a few minutes to one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region. At 2,200 m altitude, the 360° view opens up across the Dolomites – from the jagged Latemar peaks to the Rosengarten, Schlern and even the Zillertal Alps in the distance. Large, informative panels explain the surrounding mountains, making this a fun and educational stop for children and curious hikers. With its easy access, stunning scenery and informative design, LATEMAR.360° is a perfect destination for all ages.
This circular trail takes you on a journey into the fascinating world of bees. Along the family-friendly path, differnt stations bring the connection between bees, forests, and humans to life. The trail winds through dense woodlands and blooming meadows, always accompanied by the hum of these busy pollinators.
A special highlight is the Beekeeping House, where you can take a close look at the bustling activity inside a beehive through an observation comb. See firsthand how bees work, communicate, and produce honey – a unique insight into their incredible world.
A hands-on experience for all ages, offering knowledge and a deep connection to nature.
Please note: There are no places to stop for refreshments on this short circular walk, but there are several picnic areas. One option for refreshments is the Untereggerhof inn. This can be reached by taking a short detour from the beekeeper's house towards the observatory and is not directly on the tour route. Walking time: 30 minutes (1.5 km).
This circular hike in Obergummer|San Valentino di Sopra, located in the municipality of Karneid|Cornedo all'Isarco, leads you through quiet forests, gentle hills and past two unique places: the natural landmark Totmoos, an idyllic pond-like biotope with water lilies, and the historic wolf pit, one of the last remaining of its kind in the region – a place full of history surrounded by greenery.
At the Totmoos biotope, benches invite you to take a relaxing break – perfect for a picnic in the heart of nature. For a more rustic experience, the nearby unmanaged forest hut offers a covered table and benches – ideal for a quiet pause.
Time and again, the trail opens up to panoramic views of the Rosengarten|Catinaccio massif, the Schlern|Sciliar and the Tiers|Tires Valley – a scenic hike that combines natural beauty with peaceful moments. Ideal for those who appreciate tranquillity.
Please note: There are no refreshment stops along the trail. However, during the summer months, you can make a detour to the malga Hagner hut to enjoy some food and drink.

From Welschnofen | Nova Levante, the trail leads below the imposing Rosengarten | Catinaccio to the Latemar, also known as the shape-shifter. The pale mountain shows itself in different shapes depending on the location, and the destination of this hike is the only managed refuge hut in the middle of this quiet rocky scenery. The hut is also called the "Torre di Pisa hut" because of a striking, sloping pinnacle about 20 m high, reminiscent of the leaning tower of Pisa.
On this stage, you will immerse yourself deeply in the legendary mountain landscape of the Dolomites. The trail leads you through the picturesque Tiers Valley and repeatedly offers breathtaking views of the majestic Rosengarten | Catinaccio massif, renowned for the so-called "Enrosadira" – the Alpenglow. Particularly impressive is the transition to the Niger Pass | Passo Nigra, from where the view opens up to the Latemar massif and the surrounding alpine meadows.

This hike offers a rich blend of nature, history, and city charm. Starting in the peaceful village of Deutschnofen, the trail leads through quiet forests and across panoramic ridges with stunning views of the Dolomites and the valley below. Along the way, scenic spots like Rotenstein and Rotwand provide unforgettable photo opportunities and moments to pause.
The adventure continues in Kohlern, a small mountain village above Bolzano, where a special highlight awaits: the world’s oldest aerial cable car. In just a few minutes, it gently glides down to the South Tyrolean capital, offering sweeping views and a historic ride. Once in Bolzano, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the old town, with its arcades, cafés, and shops. The return journey is easy and comfortable by public bus. There is also the possibility of cross-country skiing in Steinegg|Collepietra. The starting point for the cross-country trail is between Steinegg|Collepietra and Gummer|San Valentino behind the Egger Moos craftsmen's zone at 1,250 m above sea level.

In case of unfavourable temperatures, the cross-country trail may be closed prematurely.
For those seeking a leisurely full-day hike at lower elevations, without the use of lifts, this route is a rewarding option. It begins in Welschnofen | Nova Levante and leads through tranquil woodland as well as along forest roads and paths up to the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra and further to the Messnerjoch hut. At the top, the ascent is rewarded with breathtaking views of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio, while homemade specialties and delicious cakes invite you to enjoy a well-deserved break.
