In the company of Andrea, an enthusiastic mycologist, it's possible to view the forest from the mushroom's perspective. This shift in viewpoint is exhilarating, fascinating, and unique: suddenly, the mushroom is not just a fruit of the earth but a connector that binds every form of life within the forest ecosystem. We are in the forests of La Val, areas that transform with the seasons, home to a variety of mushrooms that includes more than just the familiar porcini and chanterelles. With Andrea, the journey becomes a sensory and cognitive adventure where each encountered mushroom serves as a pretext for stories of ecology, biology, and chemistry. Starting point of the hike: the top station of the cable car. (Ascent by cable car - free for participants) Route: starting at the top station, we walk to the Rinneralm. From there, continue along the Almenweg, passing the Wasserfalleralm and the Saxnerhütte hut. We descend slightly to the viewpoint on the “Seitstein.” We then follow the Almenweg to the Äußere Wumblsalm, where we turn right at the signposted junction and descend via Trail No. 15, past the Kaserlichtalm, to the valley station of the cable car. Before ending the hike, we will take a walk around the parking area. Then we will enjoy a small snack at the Ratschingser Stubm.

This tour begins at the edge of the picturesque mountain village of Rein in Taufers, where the three-thousand-metre peaks seem to reach up to the sky and the 3436-metre-high Hochgall with its mighty north face is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Eastern Alps. There, directly out of the lush meadows, you quickly plunge into a shady forest, which, however, always gives you a view of the mountains of the Rieserferner group. Past small alpine pastures and a stop at a thundering waterfall, we finally cross a bubbling glacial stream. This takes us into an alpine region that, on closer inspection, still clearly shows the ice age and the mighty force of the glacier. Now it's not far to the Kasseler Hütte, which we can asee for a long time. We are greeted by our hosts Silvia and Arnold, who are as legendary up there as the contents of their menu. You can eat up and down from it without making any mistakes. The view up there is outstanding and the possibility of hiking on to the Malerseen lakes is tempting. All in all, this is certainly an unforgettable tour to a "must have" among the mountain hikes of South Tyrol.

The principle of the Südtirol CleanUP Days is quite simple: anyone can go out on their own or in small groups of their choice and collect litter along the route. If you prefer taking part in the CleanUP campaign in an organized group, you can join our guided tour along the Mareiterbach stream. We will set off in a group with hiking guide Karin to clear the stream bed and the surrounding hiking trail, woods and parking lots of garbage. Each participant will be provided with a garbage collection kit to make it easier to collect waste.

As part of the CleanUP Days, Georg Thaler, Sustainability Officer at Oberalp, will give a talk on sustainability and circular economy in mountain sports at the Hotel Passo Carezza. Given the growing popularity of mountain sports and their environmental impact, it is crucial to find sustainable solutions. The concept of circular economy plays a key role in this, aiming to use resources as efficiently as possible to minimize waste and environmental damage. Georg Thaler will present Oberalp's Net-Zero strategy and explain how the Circular Design Guide aims to help develop products with lower negative impacts on our environment while extending their lifespan. Another focus will be the "Single Use Plastics Project," which addresses the reduction and recycling of single-use plastics — an essential step toward reducing environmental impact in mountain and nature areas. Before the talk, there is the opportunity to join the Community Clean Up Hike with Patron, where litter will be collected together.

During our decor workshops in September, our gardener Judith will be showing you just how easy it is to make hanging baskets, kokedama, mini terrariums, autumn bouquets, bowls of succulents and floral wreaths, using plants from the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. This workshop is ideal for everybody who wants to create a beautiful gift or decoration for their home.

Pawigl Bread Time. Experience the old tradition of baking bread on the farm. Where could this happen more authentically than in the Lananer mountain fraction Pawigl, on the southern slope of the Vigiljoch, where the mountain farmers still bake bread on their farms today, from 11.00 am. Already the event will take place 22 September 2024, focusing on "Pawigl Bread Time".
