The aim of this challenge is to conquer the four summits Sas dla Crusc - Santa Croce 2,907 m, Piza dales Diesc - Cima Dieci 3,02 6m, Lavarela 3,055 m and Conturines 3,064 m, on the edge of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage. The ascent of these four mountains is to be attempted only by experienced climbers, as these peaks cannot be reached just on easy, well-sign-posted paths, but also via routes with some very exposed sections. As proof of your achievement you will have a pass which must be stamped every time you reach one of the four summits. All those who manage to complete the challenge in two or more days will have the title “Alta Badia Finisher” conferred upon them. If you manage to complete the ascent of all four summits in one day you will be crowned with the coveted and highly deserved title of “Alta Badia Mountaineer”. In both cases you will take up your place of honour in the “Wall of Fame” which can be viewed online.

The peacefulness and colours of autumn are the frame to "Saus dl Altonn", the flavours of autumn, an event created to exalt this wonderful period of the year with good food, the genuine produce of the land and activities dedicated to nature and to the Dolomites. From September 15th to October 6th 2024, a few mountain huts of Alta Badia, that can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by cableway, will be matched with a producer and the corresponding locally product of excellence. From the Ladin Museum we set off together to discover SMACH Val dl'Ert (Art Valley), an open-air sculpture park which in 2023 has one of the special mentions in the National Landscape Award sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Culture. The Conturines cave, discovered in 1987, is 200 metres long and located at 2750 metres above sea level. The bones of a previously unknown species of bear - Ursus ladinicus – were found in the cave. It is the highest find in the world. To reach this fascinating place, you have to climb one thousand metres of altitude difference, some of it on steep scree, but the sight is well worth it. In 1987 the Conturines Cave was discovered, a 200 m long cave at 2,750 m above sea level. Inside the cave, bones of a previously unknown cave bear species were found, which later received the name Ursus ladinicus. A good 1,000 meters of altitude, partly on scree, must be climbed before reaching the world's highest cave bear discovery site. The arduous climb is compensated for by beautiful stalactite figures inside the cave, where the herbivorous bears lived about 40,000 years ago. Demanding hike, only for experienced hikers. The Dolomites Medium Delicious Trail is a foot race along the paths of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, about 35 km with 1,900 metres of positive difference in altitude, starting from the centre of La Villa in front of the tourist office. Maximum time: 9 hours. From the centre of La Villa, the route follows for a stretch the Path of the Artists and leads to San Cassiano. There begins the ascent along the Altin ski run to the iconic Gran Risa and Piz La Villa, crosses the Armentarola area and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. From there, the path takes the runners up to Mt. Lagazuoi at an altitude of 2,778 m, followed by the descent to the finish line at Pocol, for a total of around 35 km and 1.900 metres of elevation gain: pure pleasure! Why is it essential to mow the meadows, and what techniques are used? What would be the consequences of not maintaining the meadows on the landscape and the environment, also in relation to tourism? How is the hay mowed during the different stages of summer, and why is it so important for agricultural life and also for tourism? How can we, as guests, contribute to the respect and preservation of these precious agricultural ecosystems? We are in the Murin area (which means 'mill' in Ladin) in Badia. In the company of Gottfried, an experienced farmer who is a guardian of Ladin agricultural tradition, you walk through the meadows he tends to. And it is from here that a truly exhilarating and important experience begins: Gottfried unveils the art and science of mowing, sharing with the guest the significance and necessity of this practice, explaining the various methods used, the timing for mowing and how each type of cut influences the subsequent use of the hay.
