Europe’s largest monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. Founded in 1142 by the Bishop of Brixen/Bressanone at the intersection of two important routes - the Brenner and the route to the Pustertal valley - the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery was recognized, among other things, as a hospice and rest area for pilgrims. Today the Monastery makes a name for itself as a place of agriculture, culture and education. From the monastery winery to the herb garden, from the electricity plant to the educational center, several businesses are united in the monastery. The Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery in Vahrn/Varna is the largest Monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. The Monastery has an holistic conception and was independent and versatile from its very foundation. A walk through the Monastery complex will let you understand its size and importance as a former important cultural and economic hub of the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco valley. The first thing that will catch your eye are the architectural elements: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. With the Engelsburg, the late Baroque collegiate church, the Gothic cloister, the miracle fountain, the library’s unique manuscripts and the historic Pinakothek, the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery is one of the most remarkable sights of the Eisacktal valley.

Sexual violence often leaves scars that last for generation. What does this mean for victims, families and our society? And how can we work together to break this cycle? A travelling exhibition on the research project TRACES. The supporting programme will be announced on the website.

The opening event of the exhibition “Garejedes de schi te Gherdëina” will take place on 12 December 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Tublà da Nives in Selva di Val Gardena.
Pauli Senoner will introduce the exhibition, with moderation by Martina Rier, offering insights into the historical significance of ski races in Val Gardena.
A special postal cancellation created for the occasion will also be available during the opening.

In different places and historical moments, human cultures have recognized the existence of a connection — a vital energy that permeates and links us — to which they have given names such as Qi, Prana, Pneuma, Spiritus, Tjukupurna, and many others. Vitalis–Navitas–Connexio is an exploration of the nature of this connection between ourselves and the Whole. By engaging us on multiple levels — physical, emotional, mental, spiritual — art allows us to grasp and perceive this network of visible and invisible bonds that connect us to our deepest essence, to nature, and to everything around us. The exploration of the perception of this transversal vital energy that connects us to the Whole is the central focus of this performative work.

The word ‘balance’ encompasses a dialogue between opposites: good and evil, calm and chaos, light and dark, natural and artificial, selfishness and altruism, order and disorder... and from these contrasts we try to achieve, often without even realising it, a state of harmony, which is almost always precarious and fragile. The exhibition aims to make us reflect on this quest.

Nativity exhibition in the Cloister of the Francisan Monastery

With the exhibition “Movement – Between Line and Light,” the Haus Wassermann Museum Niederdorf is dedicating an impressive show to South Tyrolean artist Toni Walder, exploring the tension between watercolor painting and drawing.
Walder understands watercolor as an art of light – and at the same time of risk. In his works, water becomes both partner and adversary, color an expression of inner movement. His landscapes, animal depictions, and atmospheric scenes reveal a deep connection to nature—not as a mere motif, but as a living space of energy, change, and breath.
Walder's watercolors follow in the tradition of great masters such as William Turner and Emil Nolde, but at the same time bear their own quiet signature: the struggle for the fleeting, the visualization of the invisible. In works such as Monte Cristal, an “atmospheric zipper” emerges between heaven and earth, in which light, fog, and stone merge into one another.
In addition to watercolor paintings, the exhibition also features graphite and charcoal drawings—studies of nudes, portraits, and body landscapes. These works refer to Walder's intensive study of drawing, influenced by courses and master classes with Prof. Walter Strobl, Prof. Piotr Sonnwend, Prof. Irsara, and Rafael Zielinski, among others. Here, the line reveals itself as the origin of all pictorial activity—as an elementary movement between control and letting go, as a visible trace of thought and feeling.

With AL LIMITE, curators Lisa Trockner and Eleonora Klauser Soldà inaugurate an extraordinary dialogue between art and sport.

At the heart of the exhibition are seven Olympic medals and seven artistic installations with a strong immersive impact. Athletes and artists show how physical performance, mental endurance, and creative vision are intertwined. Through objects, videos, installations, and photography, the artists respond to the original medals and trace the path that led to them. AL LIMITE reminds us that every time we surpass ourselves, we tell a story of value and hope. The exhibition invites us to reflect on human aspiration and what remains beyond the finish line: what drives us forward, where are the limits, what does it mean to go beyond them, and when does action become memory?

At the opening, a limited edition box of chocolate bars will be unveiled, created in homage to the seven artist-athlete tandems.

At the same time, the Jahreszeitensaal at SKB ARTES will host the opening of an exhibition of graphic testimonies of the Olympic Games, curated by Eva Gratl. A refined selection of iconic Olympic posters from Michael Seeber's art collection will be on display.

The exhibition “Kaufmannsgesichter” is based on an excerpt from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s diary about his journey to Italy. The poet arrived in Bolzano in September 1786, at a time when one of the four major international fairs was taking place. The lively bustle of the city and the faces of the merchants—radiating prosperity and self-confidence—made a strong impression on him.

The exhibition presents the portraits of merchants who, at the turn of the 18th to the 19th century, played a decisive role in Bolzano’s development into a wealthy trading city and who were personally involved in the activities of the Mercantile Magistrate. The works, on loan from public institutions and private collectors, depict men in authoritative poses, holding correspondence, account books, or professional objects. They are often accompanied by portraits of their wives, who belonged to the new merchant aristocracy and who, through their dowries, wealth, and prestigious residences, significantly contributed to the rise of their family businesses. Several objects connected to acts of patronage, donated by the merchants on special occasions, are also presented.

Most of these portraits—created by notable artists of the period such as Carl Henrici, Martin Knoller, Giuseppe Tominz, and Friedrich Wasmann—originally hung in the private homes of the commissioners or in their business premises and offices. They are unique original works that bear witness to the golden age of Bolzano as a trading city and to the development of its local society.

As part of the “Borgo Natalizio di Chiusa”, the renowned Galleria d’Arte Kusstatscher in the historic old town of Chiusa opens its doors for an exceptional exhibition.
Artists Sabine Brugger and Hannes Tribus present an exclusive selection of their latest works – a vibrant artistic tribute to the fascinating Borghi più belli d’Italia.

With expressive watercolours by Sabine Brugger and atmospheric oil paintings by Hannes Tribus, the two artists invite visitors on a journey through some of Italy’s most enchanting historic villages. Their works capture the architecture, landscapes, and unique atmosphere of these remarkable places in both poetic and powerful ways.

In the quiet of winter, when the biting cold wraps around the mountains, sculptures begin to take shape — white as freshly fallen snow. In the evening, the moonlight reflects on the ice, turning the landscape into a stage of shimmering light and shadow.

Armed with barbed wire, saws, and shovels, and protected by rubber boots, earmuffs, and gloves, five groups of artists — fifteen talents from Val Gardena — will face off in a contest of pure creativity.

In January, within the enchanting setting of San Vigilio, the Snow Sculpture Festival will come to life: a true competition where the weather — hopefully merciful — acts as the silent judge of these works born from frost and snow.

A (Guided) Journey Through Time.
Strolling through Ortisei is like traveling through time. Historic villas from the turn of the century, once home to artists and entrepreneurs, take us back to an era when woodcarving brought prosperity to Val Gardena. Publishing houses and workshops offer a glimpse into the former wooden toy industry – and historic inns and hotels trace the valley’s transformation from a dream destination for alpinists to a popular year-round tourist hotspot.
You can embark on this journey through time in Ortisei with the help of a knowledgeable guide. The tour, offered in English, German or Italian depending on the participants, lasts 1.5 hours and is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Museion Art Club invites you to the Orto Semirurali Garden in Bolzano for an open forum and to celebrate the winter solstice. The event concludes this year’s Common Ground and Art Club program.

The focus is on belonging, community, and sharing. All participants are encouraged to contribute by telling stories, singing songs, sharing poems, recipes, or small gestures. The aim is to share experiences, reinterpret traditions, and reflect on new rituals.

Free entry; in collaboration with Associazione Donne Nissà Frauen APS and supported by LignoAlp.

Stephan Pramstrahler, head of the house, will accompany us through the exhibition. There will be time for creative exchange over an aperitif afterwards. Experience the fascinating craft of traditional blacksmithing up close! With an anvil, hammer, and glowing iron, the blacksmith demonstrates how a simple piece of metal can be transformed into unique works of art – from horseshoes and candle holders to intricate decorations. Visitors are welcome to watch, ask questions, and even take part in the process – a captivating experience for both children and adults.
