One of the most exciting ways to explore the picturesque landscape in the Upper Vinschgau Valley is by taking part in one of the guided horse-riding tours on a Haflinger – the typical breed of South Tyrol. The original Taufers/Tubre landscape in Monastero Valley is accessible for riding excursions in the summer and in the winter and makes an ideal location for riders. At the beginning of the forest of Monticolo, there is a signpost that indicates the horse riding association “Überetscher Reitverein”. This is where you can find more than 60 mews for horses, that are treated and cared for in a species-appropriate manner. For adults and children the riding club offers the possibility to get in direct contact with the horses. Horse riding lessons and longer rides can be booked, as the surroundings are perfect to be discovered on the horseback.
Lean back and indulge in a romantic sleigh ride: Let your horses carry you through snow-capped landscapes in an unhurried trot to the rhythmic sound of bells, with a soft winter breeze on your cheeks. Directly from the stables then it comes in a beautiful winter landscape to Talschlusshütte where can strengthen at a comfortable rest horses and sledders. Overall, a sleigh ride takes about 2 hours.

Start is in San Genesio, up to the highplateau Salten till the parking area "Schermoss". Follow the trail nr. 6, pass the mountain restaurant "Gschnofer Stall" and turn back to San Genesio, by following trail nr. E5.
