Interlude is a state of limbo, a meeting point between different forms of expression, where photography intertwines and transforms itself in contact with other arts. The exhibited works tell of a hybrid photography in constant metamorphosis: from digital to analog, from conceptual to painterly, from minimalism to Arte Povera, to installation and multimedia solutions. Here, the image is no longer just a document or representation, but becomes a gesture, material, sign, and space. The group exhibition brings Italian, Austrian, and German artists into dialogue and draws a geographical line that—like an invisible thread—unites different sensibilities in a common field of research. In some works, photography meets painting, creating new, unpredictable forms of expression; in others, it transforms into an installation, a three-dimensional object, or a fragment that is reassembled in conceptual collages—an original development of a new visual language that also represents the quintessence of the Stadtgalerie Brixen's exhibition program for 2025. Curated by Marco Pietracupa, it highlights various perspectives of current international photographic research. This diversity of approaches is not merely technical gimmickry, but a profound reflection on our way of perceiving reality and constructing meaning through images. Photographic surfaces become textures, pixels become digital brushstrokes, analog photographs regain their materiality, while the installative character transforms the exhibition space into a landscape that invites visitors to traverse it. Interlude invites us to look beyond definitions and follow the thread of an ever-evolving language that combines contemporary sensibilities and pioneering practices—offering the audience a lively, participatory experience of an art form that continues to speak, create connections, and redefine the boundaries of photography.

Discover the Baroque cloister garden at Novacella Monastery. A place of tranquility, shaped over centuries. The cloister garden at Novacella Monastery is one of the most significant historical gardens in South Tyrol. After its faithful restoration in 2004, it is divided into three areas: a tree garden with a pavilion, a herb garden with around 75 medicinal and aromatic plants, and a Baroque ornamental garden with fountains, a bird chapel, and a historic fish pond. To this day, the canons find rest between ancient ginkgo trees and a giant sequoia – and you, too, can experience monastic peace here amidst nature and enjoy a moment of reflection. The Baroque cloister garden can be visited independently from May to September, Thursday to Saturday, during museum opening hours. Price: 5,00€ per person

“Regenerated in Hope” is the title of the jubilee initiative that unites the 15 dioceses of Triveneto in a common journey to promote ecclesiastical cultural heritage and the bond between these places and their communities. The diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone is participating in the project with an exhibition in the chapel of St. John in the cloister of Bressanone Cathedral. The chapel, built in the 10th century and part of the cloister of Bressanone Cathedral, contains a baptismal font, which attests to its function as a baptistery, and displays examples of the ecclesiastical heritage of reference: sacred artworks from the Diocesan Museum; ancient documents and a register of baptisms from the Diocesan Historical Archive and the Parish Archive of Bressanone; sacramental books from the Major Seminary Library, special paper supports for the free transcription of visitors' names.

South Tyrolean artist Elisabeth Oberrauch is well-known for her artworks made from handmade paper. In this exhibition, she displays highlights from her previous work and presents new creations inspired by pharmaceutical and medical themes. Her artistic works accompany and support the Brixen Pharmacy Museum on its journey towards a harmonious combination of architecture, art and pharmacy.

Local and seasonal, straight from the producer. Farmers from the surrounding area bring their own farm produce to the Brixen old town centre. Depending on the season, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, flowers, honey, homemade jams and pasta sauces, refined distillates and organically grown herbs as well as wooden handicrafts are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From April to October, local associations prepare fresh tirtln (fried stuffed pastry) on site on a weekly basis. This means that every Saturday is also a culinary experience. This market has been a popular, lively meeting place for locals and guests for 30 years.

This makes a visit to the old town of Brixen an experience for the whole family. "Brixen for Kids", the year-round free childcare programme, is a special initiative aimed primarily at the local population and all visitors to Brixen's old town. On the occasion of the Euregio Museum Year 2025, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Tyrolean Peasants’ Revolt of 1525 – a historic turning point that continues to raise essential questions about power structures, social justice, political participation, and the potential for societal change – the Hofburg Bressanone presents a two-part exhibition project that sets history and the present in a dialogical relationship. The two exhibitions, 1525-2025. Irruption-Subversion-Renewal (29 March – 31 August 2025) and ETÀ, ÉTATS (12 September 2025 – 11 January 2026), explore the theme of societal transformation from different perspectives. They share a central conceptual motif: rupture as a starting point for movement, encounter, and new forms of social thinking. ETÀ, ÉTATS links the father-son relationship between Robert and Johannes Bosisio to the socially relevant question of intergenerational dialogue. In the spatial and conceptual design, the two artists meet in the center of the exhibition area, while their independent positions are situated at opposite ends of the sequence of rooms. At this central point of encounter, the focus is less on comparison and more on exchange: a dialogical coexistence aimed at connecting different experiences, ways of thinking, and perspectives.

Europe’s largest monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. Founded in 1142 by the Bishop of Brixen/Bressanone at the intersection of two important routes - the Brenner and the route to the Pustertal valley - the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery was recognized, among other things, as a hospice and rest area for pilgrims. Today the Monastery makes a name for itself as a place of agriculture, culture and education. From the monastery winery to the herb garden, from the electricity plant to the educational center, several businesses are united in the monastery. The Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery in Vahrn/Varna is the largest Monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. The Monastery has an holistic conception and was independent and versatile from its very foundation. A walk through the Monastery complex will let you understand its size and importance as a former important cultural and economic hub of the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco valley. The first thing that will catch your eye are the architectural elements: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. With the Engelsburg, the late Baroque collegiate church, the Gothic cloister, the miracle fountain, the library’s unique manuscripts and the historic Pinakothek, the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery is one of the most remarkable sights of the Eisacktal valley.

In the heart of Rome, torn by passion and power, one of the greatest operatic tragedies of all time comes to life: Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. In this concert version, voices and instruments blend into a vivid narrative, where every note reveals the soul of the characters. Renata Campanella embodies a profoundly human Tosca, torn between love and faith, jealousy and courage. Beside her, Danilo Formaggia gives life to Cavaradossi, an idealistic and passionate painter whose voice burns with both heroism and tenderness. Marzio Giossi portrays Scarpia, the embodiment of dark power, cruelty, and corrupt desire. The Ensemble Artisti di Parma enhances the dramatic power of the story through refined and expressive musicianship. The violin of Beatrice Marozza and the cello of Antonio Amedei intertwine in a rich fabric of emotion, while Damiano Carissoni’s piano leads the narration with elegance and intensity, restoring the theatrical tension of the full opera. “Tosca concertante” is not merely a concert, but an emotional journey that draws the audience deep into Puccini’s tragic world—where love and death meet in an eternal instant. A tribute to absolute passion, to music that unveils the human soul, and to the moving beauty of Italian melodrama.

The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). IMPORTANT: arrive at the mine at least 10 minutes in advance! Individual special tours are available all year round on request. All prices can be found on the mine's website.

The hiking guide will accompany you on this easy circular hike through mountain pine fields to the demonstration distillery at Marzuner Schupfe. Here, you’ll gain an interesting insight into the distillation process, from the mountain pine to the essential oil. For the lunch break, a mountain hut will be visited alternately. Free of charge for holders of the Guest Pass and guests of member establishments. (Transportation and lunch not included)

Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere. Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.

This itinerary takes you from Mühlbach via Vintl and Kiens to Bruneck, along the river Rienz.
