The goal of the hike are the “Koflerseen“ lakes. You pass through varied parts of the forest and mountain pastures. Over centuries people have shaped the landscape and cultivated the land which is still well maintained. The lakes themselves are embedded in a mountainous region bounded by the boulders and debris left by the retreat of an old glacier. Around the banks of the lakes there are meadows covered by a vast variety of flowers spreading in all directions. These flowers show the art of survival in the high mountains. Last, but not least, the hike offers views of the glacial peaks of the Rieserferner Mountains.

“Michl” is just waiting for a visit from leisure and beginner climbers. On an easy, B-difficulty course, it can offer a real climbing experience to any visitor with a half-good head for heights. After a little overhang, climbers pull themselves over rock bars that on average remain relatively low. Ideal for practising clicking and changing carabiners. A short hiking route shares the via ferrata in two sections. Small surprise: a stream provides refreshment and a place to rest and let you take in the natural surroundings. And not forgetting your own climbing performance too. After a further climb, at the exit of the via ferrata is one of the loveliest viewing points in the Speikboden area. The little Speikboden lake, a hidden gem, rewards all visitors with a natural spectacle at the conclusion of the climb.

Anyone who has got the bug for more climbing can hike down the mountain to the start of the Speikboden's “Genie in a Bottle” via ferrata. Climbers who have used “Michl” to warm up will manage well on the next via ferrata.

The High Altitude Trail Neves - high above the lake Neves in Lappach/Lappago! The trail connects the two mountain refuges Edelraut Hütte/Ponte di Ghiaccio (2,545 m) and Chemnitzer Hütte/Giovanni Porro (2,419 m). 

The hike is rated intermediate for level of difficulty and offers unforgettable moments. The tour requires experience, not to suffer from vertigo, sure-footedness, physical fitness as well as suitable equipment. 

The cable car first takes you up to Speikboden at 2,000m. From there, the leisurely snowshoe hike starts along the forest road to the Trejer Alm. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains are included! An insider tip: right after the Trejer Alm you reach the lake Trejer, a unique nature-protected high moor at 2,000m.

Following a long ridge between Wielental and Tesselberg you climb through thick, almost untouched, forest. The ecology aspect of a healthy forest ground covered with mosses, lichens and mushrooms provides for topics of conversation. The viewing points offer a wide panorama: you can see from the huts of the Wielental and Mühlbacher tal valleys over to the nearby three thousand metre peaks of the Rieserferner Mountains as well as the distant Hohe Tauern, the Zillertal Alps and the Ötztal Alps. To the South lies the unusual world of the Dolomites, which stimulates conversations about the development of their diverse geological formations.

Hiking trough typical high forests and partly abandoned alpine pastures to reach the glacier world of the Rieserfernergruppe mountain range. Lots of creeks, brooks and waterfalls, fed by the glaciers, will give you an idea of the abundance of water in this area. At the Tristennöckl summit (2465 m) you can observe some arolla pine trees in their highest habitat in the Eastern Alps. The walk over boulders and moraines will bring you close to the edge of the floating ice which has vitally shaped the landscape.

Beautiful hike to the summit of the Klausberg. Offers an enchanting panoramic view of the Dolomites, Zillertal Alps, Durreck and Rieserferner Group. Trail no. 33 hike time: 3 to 3.5 hrs elevation gain: 1050 m From the Klausberg upper station to Lake Klaussee. From there, the trail continues to the pass and then, in about 20 minutes it reaches the summit (the section from the pass to the summit involves some light bouldering). You can descend by the same trail. Tip: from "Jochkofel", passing Obersteiner Alm, down to Luttach or through the Pojental to Sand in Taufers (fantastic hike requiring an additional three to four hours).

At the Speikboden ski area, it is also possible to undertake a variety of tours on snowshoes. Taking into account the weather and avalanche conditions, the Speikboden ski area is excellently suited for snowshoe tours. It goes without saying that in so doing, the marked ski runs should be avoided so as not to disturb the traffic on the slopes.  The ski lift facilities can be used for ascending, descending, or both.

The 1200 m high Selva dei Molini is a community with well-cared for highly insulated farm houses scattered in the landscape.

Suitable for enthusiastic newcomers, a welcoming side event for mountain lovers, exiting for sportive climbers. The via ferrata is of a medium degree of difficulty, starting right after the exit of the  Speikboden gondola at 2.000m. You’ll overcome 350m of difference in altitude belayed and safe. On your first steps out of the gondola you will already get this pure feeling of summits surrounding you. Hold on for the stunning view across Valley Aurina, Zillertal Alps and the white peaks of Durreck. Walk on for the entrance of the via ferrata. Keep the feeling of touching mountains and sky while you step into the via ferrata. Get excited on the super long suspension bridge, get a grip on the edgy rocks of the mountains. You’ll arrive at the very peak of Speikboden. Heading towards a panoramic view you can only here enjoy: Dolomites, Tre Cime and Marmolata towards the glaciers of Valley Aurina. The tour is considered a circular route, for your way back you can either chose the chairlift Sonnklar or hike downwards the alpine paths of the Speikboden recreation area.

Snowshoe hike with a magnificent panorama. Ascent with the cable car Speikboden and the chairlift Sonnklar to 2,400m. From there turn left onto the Sonnklar Nock and down to lake Trejer, the hut Trejer and back to the mountain station Speikboden at 2,000m. The tour is also possible in the opposite direction.

The sun trail "Sunnsat" is a net of ways and invites to walk and to peregrinate. These ways in the times gone by, were used by smugglers and for other things. Now doing this ways you can pass the blooming fields, the mixed forest, the traditional farms und the huts.

This Via Ferrata has truely earned the name "Avventura"! Three-rope bridge, Burmabridge, plank bridge or chimes - these are just a few elements that await you on the new Via Ferrata at Speikboden! Beautifully laid out, with many steps and final summit cross, the trail offers a breathtaking view through the Ahrntal valley.

The wonderful adventure Via Ferrata with difficulty B rounds off the wide climbing offer at Speikboden, along with the Via Ferrata Speikboden (B/C) and the Via Ferrata Kids (A).

The starting point is at the Station Speikboden Alm at 2.000m, which can be reached by cablecar. After a 30-minute hike on the forest road in direction to Luttach, you reach the entrance of the Via Ferrata Avventura. A total of 10 sections have to be climbed before reaching the summit cross of the mountain "Kleiner Nock". The tour is designed as a circular route, the return path is on the hiking trail no. 18a, back to the starting point.

Marvel at the spectacle of the thundering water at the Pojer waterfall near Luttach/Lutago. Feel the cooling drops of water on your skin, breathe in the soothing freshness and enjoy the special microclimate of the surroundings and the colourful light reflections in the sunshine.

Climbing up, the hike leads you through bright larch forests which were used as pastures in former times. The variety of blossoms on the rough grassland just above, is absolutely unique. The Almweg crosses the socalled “battle zone” with dwarf shrubs, sedges and isolated trees. Mankind has decisively shaped the landscape in alpine pastures. The descend will take you through some remains of a dense highalpine pine forest.
