Suitable for enthusiastic newcomers, a welcoming side event for mountain lovers, exiting for sportive climbers. The via ferrata is of a medium degree of difficulty, starting right after the exit of the Speikboden gondola at 2.000m. You’ll overcome 350m of difference in altitude belayed and safe. On your first steps out of the gondola you will already get this pure feeling of summits surrounding you. Hold on for the stunning view across Valley Aurina, Zillertal Alps and the white peaks of Durreck. Walk on for the entrance of the via ferrata. Keep the feeling of touching mountains and sky while you step into the via ferrata. Get excited on the super long suspension bridge, get a grip on the edgy rocks of the mountains. You’ll arrive at the very peak of Speikboden. Heading towards a panoramic view you can only here enjoy: Dolomites, Tre Cime and Marmolata towards the glaciers of Valley Aurina. The tour is considered a circular route, for your way back you can either chose the chairlift Sonnklar or hike downwards the alpine paths of the Speikboden recreation area.
It is possible to rent the equipment for the Via Ferrata at the mountain station of the cablecar Speikboden.
The Power of Water is the theme of four trails in Valle di Selva dei Molini that await hikers with a thirst for knowledge about nature. Each one has its very own unique charm.
Long, sometimes difficult hike, but very rewarding with stunning scenery on route. Trails no. 2, 7a and 7 hike time: 3 to 5 hrs elevation gain: 700 m. From the Klausberg mountian station via trail no. 2 into the Großklausental to the Moser plain. From the alpine hut, situated at an altitude of 1847 m, continue along trail no. 7 to the Gruben alpine hut (2040 m), from where you follow the markings up to Hochfeld. From Hochfeld, follow the markings down to the Hochfeld alpine hut (where you can eat). Important: follow the markings carefully because the trail from Hochfeld to Hochfeldalm is incorrect on some hiking maps. From Hochfeldalm, you can either descend via St. Jakob or return to the Großklausental via the Pferraböden, descending to either Steinhaus or St. Jakob. It is also possible to make a direct descent to St. Jakob crossing the "Bärental".
The Speikboden is more than just a favorite ski area. It is also an ideal hiking area. The mountain got its name from a little flower that grows in the high mountains – Alpine valerian, or “Speik” in German – and that is in fact because this lovely flower is often found in the hiking area.
With the cable cars you can reach the "Speikboden Alm" at 2000 metres of altitude or the Sonnklar mountain at 2400 metres above sea level. Both are starting points for fantastic walks and hikes along well maintained trails. Particularly popular are the sunrise walks - to spot the first sunrays while the valley still lies in darkness is a memorable experience.
Tourism is one of the most important sectors of the economy of the valley. Its history is closely linked to the flourishing of alpinism. For this reason, alpinism and tourism trails are interacted, both kinds of trails will result in a worthwhile day trip. The development of tourism was strongly influenced by Dr. Josef Daimer (1845-1909), the community of Sand in Taufer’s physician. He was co-founder of the village’s Improvement Society and saw to it that mountain trails and shelters were built. Another milestone was the art of healing by Dr. Anton Mutschlechner, who attracted many guests from all over the world to the area thus developing tourism and eventually leading to the construction of the lifts on Speikboden, which enhanced the development of winter tourism. Numerous infrastructures followed suit, the newest of which is the indoor and outdoor pools at the Cascade with its saunas and wonderful landscaped setting. The trail gives us insight into the development of tourism in the valley from the past to the present days with display boards and symbols along the way. Trail conditions : forest roads and paths. Difficulty: medium, walkable from spring to late autumn.

Special Feature Wellness Trail Weißenbach/Rio Bianco. The mountain village of Weißenbach/Rio Bianco—with its rich diversity of local herbs and the elemental forces of water, air and light—offers the ideal setting for the Weißenbach/Rio Bianco Wellness Trail.
Regular exercise amid nature works as an active preventative, helping to achieve a balanced harmony between mind, body and soul. The mountain village of Weißenbach/Rio Bianco provides the ideal backdrop. With its unique and beautiful nature, colourful diversity of local herbs, and elementary forces of water, air and light, this outstanding natural landscape cried out for health trails to be created here.
The three trails represent the three basic pillars of the Kneipp therapy: phytotherapy (the use of natural extracts as medicine) is explained on the Herbal Trail; the cold hydrotherapy can be refreshingly experienced on the Kneipp trail; and the principle of finding a balanced lifestyle through exercise is demonstrated on the Exercise Trail.

“Michl” is just waiting for a visit from leisure and beginner climbers. On an easy, B-difficulty course, it can offer a real climbing experience to any visitor with a half-good head for heights. After a little overhang, climbers pull themselves over rock bars that on average remain relatively low. Ideal for practising clicking and changing carabiners. A short hiking route shares the via ferrata in two sections. Small surprise: a stream provides refreshment and a place to rest and let you take in the natural surroundings. And not forgetting your own climbing performance too. After a further climb, at the exit of the via ferrata is one of the loveliest viewing points in the Speikboden area. The little Speikboden lake, a hidden gem, rewards all visitors with a natural spectacle at the conclusion of the climb.
Anyone who has got the bug for more climbing can hike down the mountain to the start of the Speikboden's “Genie in a Bottle” via ferrata. Climbers who have used “Michl” to warm up will manage well on the next via ferrata.
This pilgrimage route leads from Krimml in Pinzgau (AUT) to the Tauern Pass (Ahrntal valley, South Tyrol), then on to St. Jakob/San Giacomo, Weißenbach/Rio Bianco and the Chemnitzer Hütte refuge (Lappach/Lappago). It then continues to the Edelraut Hütte refuge (Lappach/Lappago), via the Pfunderer Valley (Puster Valley) to the trail junction at Niedervintl, and then down in to Switzerland (Müstair) via the Eisack and Vinschgau valleys or via the Brenner Pass to Innsbruck (AUT).
Starting from the historic Tauernweg trail, the route continues from Heilig Geist in Kasern/Casere towards St. Jakob/San Giacomo, Weißenbach/Rio Bianco and the Chemnitzer Hütte and Edelraut Hütte refuges with a descent through the Weitental Valley to Niedervintl. The extended route leads along the existing Way of St. James through the Eisack Valley to Bolzano, the Vinschgau Valley and Müstair in Switzerland. Alternatively, from Mühlbach there is another variant, which heads further north to Sterzing and Brenner and finally to St James' Cathedral in Innsbruck.
Ascending the mountain, the hike leads you to the so-called Schlafhäuser (sleeping houses), which the farmers used as shelters and for cooking when the hay was harvested. The route continues high above the Reintal valley, crossing the southern slope of the Mosstock peak. Dwarf shrub heathland, marvellous pines and characteristic highland moors can be found along the way. Blooming alpine flowers invite you to take a rest and to marvel at the stunning views, reaching from the close glaciers of the Rieserferner mountain range to the Dolomites in the distance.
The most beautiful view of the Rieserferner mountain range…
The Sossental valley is steep, isolated and rocky. It diverges from the busy path which leads to the Knuttenalm and the valley is more easily accessible ascending rather than descending it. At the Sossenjoch saddle the wow-factor: the panoramic view to the mighty glaciers such as Hochgall, Wildgall, Magerstein and Schneebiger Nock takes our breath away. The Kofler lakes invite
us to have a rest, because the sight of the Rieserferner mountains from there is one of the most beautiful in the entire Tauferer Ahrntal valley. This trip can be also recommended on hot summer days as the ascent through the Sossental lies mostly in the shade.
The wild and romantic Mühlenklamm in Molini di Tures-Mühlen in Taufers. Shady circular trail.

The Tauferer Ahrntal (valley) is rich in legends. Some of these are presented on the Tauferer Valley Legend Trail. Children are drawn into an exciting world of magic, adults learn something about the mystics of Taufers. The legends are told on display boards. We hear about the little woman from Oberpurstein, about the Antrischen people, about the castle on Purstein, the treasure at Tobl and the doom of the Walburg Castle.
A nice hiking tour to the famous lake Waldner above Prettau/Predoi!

The mountain tour is classified as moderately difficult - difficult and offers unforgettable moments. Sure-footedness, good physical condition, experience and good equipment are required.
The yoke crossings are known as the old paths of smugglers between the Ahrntal valley and Austria. Especially the Keilbachjoch. This prompted the Kassel section of the German Alpine Club and Martin Gamper, hut keeper of the Kasseler Hütte, to call this tour "Ahrntaler smuggler paths".
