Barthlmastag is an important Rittner vacation with a long tradition. It is celebrated annually on August 24 and takes its name from the patron saint of shepherds and farmers, St. Bartholomew. If the 24th of August falls on a Sunday, as it does this year, the cattle drive and the market are moved to Monday since Sunday is not a market day according to custom. In the past, on this day, the farmers met on the Rittner Alm for the cattle drive and the subsequent market. The cattle of the farmers, who spent the summer on the alp, are herded together at the Saltner hut and driven in at noon with “Goasslschnoellen”, Saltner calls, neighing and yelling. The meeting point is a fenced-in area, the “Stricker Pfarrer”, where in earlier years the Barthlmas market took place, where the farmers met to do various business. Today the market takes place in Pemmern, where agricultural products from the region are offered. Since 1927, the spectacle has been accompanied by the Wangen music band, which has also provided food and drink since the 1960s. After this highlight on the Rittner Alm, the afternoon continues downhill to Pemmern, where the Almfest becomes a meadow festival with music and children’s programs. The summer in Natz-Schabs becomes musical! Every Thursday, concerts by numerous South Tyrolean music bands take place on the high plateau. Traditional and also modern sounds fill the room. The perfect occasion to end the evening in a cosy atmosphere.

The concert with the ensemble ‘La Douceur et l'Esprit’ is the last concert of the summer programme and is entitled ‘The Last Rose of Summer’. Nadia Prousch (recorder), Veronika Egger (violin) and Marianna Bisacchi (harpsichord) will perform both classical music and works by contemporary composers.

The Tiers volunteer fire department invites everyone to the 2nd “Tierscher Grisufestl” at the civil defense center in Tiers. Food and drink are well provided for! A highlight of the evening is the charcoal-grilled chicken, which is a real treat for the taste buds. Younger visitors can enjoy themselves on the bouncy castle.

The civic band of Tramin invites you to their Festival, on the covered festival place. Enjoy traditional dishes and excellent wines from the local wineries.

Out of enthusiasm for alpine folk music and the joy of making music together, musicians from the Teis band founded the group ‘Teiser Tanzlmusig’ in 1997. In 2002, the ‘Teiser Tanzlmusigfest’, a festival that is still unique in South Tyrol today, was organised for the first time. Traditional, down-to-earth folk music, social get-togethers, local specialities and delicacies and a pleasant time are the focus of the event. The event begins at 09.30 am with a Holy Mass on the festival square in Teis. This is followed by the performances by various music groups.

The annual village festival, called "Kichtag" takes place on pavilion in St. Lorenzen. Brass music, dance music, food and drink are offered.

Welcome to the Altstadtfest (Old Town Festival)! Every two years the associations of Bolzano invite you to the Old Town Festival at "King Laurin". These are non-profit associations that work on a voluntary basis in the fields of sport, leisure, culture and customs. They want to use the proceeds from this festival to fill their coffers so that they can once again put on great events for young and old throughout the year. In order for this to succeed, this festival requires the commitment of around 850 volunteers!

Up to 2,200 sheep and 300 goats set off from the Niedertal Alm Mountain hut in Vent valley (A) in the early morning, moving upwards through high-Alpine terrain (not dangerous) to Giogo Basso/Niederjoch (3,019 m) or the Refuge Similaun, the first group in the herd arriving at about 9:00 a.m. The most dangerous part of the return journey begins here, particularly if there is snow on the ground or the trail or parts of it are icy. Below the hut, the procession winds downhill on quite a narrow trail through steep and rocky terrain (down to about 2,600 m). The ground then becomes more level and less dangerous. After a short respite in the centre of Tisental valley, the herd continues down the mountain towards Vernago/Vernagt, arriving just before 2:00 p.m. From far away (1/2 hour before it arrives) you can already see the never-ending line of sheep. One of the most traditional festivals in Dorf Tirol is dedicated to autumnal indulgence and starts on Saturday with an evening torch-lit procession, music and dancing. After a hearty morning pint, the Autumn Festival reaches its highpoint on Sunday with the large parade, in which elaborately decorated floats, musical bands and societies pass through the village.

Festival at Verdins: Visitors to this festival can enjoy folk music and South Tyrolean specialities. It’s a date that locals and guests mark red in their diaries.
