For centuries, each June shepherds have been driving their sheep from the Schnalstal Valley across the still snow-mantled saddles to graze in the pasturelands belonging to the farmers in Venter Valley in Austria. They return in mid September. About 1,500 sheep leave from the “Rofenberg-Alm“ in the early morning, reaching Hochjoch near the Bella Vista lodge (2845m) at about 11:30 a. m. The sheep arrive in Maso Corto between 3:00 p. m. The Bella Vista hut (2845 m) can be reached in about 1 hour on foot from the top station of the Roter Kofel chairlift (2543 m), follow the signs and trail number 3.

"King Laurin" alpsfestival: the highlight under the Rosengarten | Catinaccio mountain! The King Laurin alpfsfestival attracts many people from near and far every year to spend a beautiful, sociable hiking day together in the Dolomite mountains. Also, this year, the associations of Nova Levante transform the mountain meadows at the foot of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio into a small kingdom of delights and entertainment. But the event is crowned by the breathtaking backdrop of the two Dolomite mountains Rosengarten | Catinaccio and Latemar. The culinary delicacies and the matching music certainly guarantee an unforgettable day of hiking with family and friends.

When autumn begins in the southern Valle Isarco/Eisacktal, it starts also the so-called Törggele-season. Chiusa/Klausen celebrates the beginning of this ancient tradition with a big festival. From 19th September to 21st September, the artist's city Chiusa dedicates itself entirely to the traditions of the "Törggelen" and transforms itself into some kind of outdoor tavern. Through the streets of the town, gastronomic stands offer various South Tyrolean specialties, such as Knödel, Schlutzkrapfen, sausages with sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), doughnuts, Strauben and roasted chestnuts. A rich selection of white wines from the Valle Isarco completes the culinary offer. The festival has also a colourful entertainment program and a lot of popular music.

In September, Last Summer Glow invites you to an atmospheric evening that celebrates the end of summer in a unique atmosphere. Under twinkling fairy lights and warm candlelight, surrounded by natural decorations, cocktails, selected red and white wines and fresh juices are served. Small culinary highlights round off the experience for guests. An evening full of relaxation and enjoyment that celebrates the gentle transition from summer to autumn in a stylish and harmonious way.

Every year in September, the traditional Gsieser Almhüttenfest (Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival) takes place in the Val Casies Valley, a highlight that attracts many hiking enthusiasts every year. The festival takes place alternately in the villages of Colle, S. Martino or S. Maddalena to give the many visitors the opportunity to get to know the numerous alpine pastures and the mountain world of the Val Casies Valley. This year the associations of Colle organise the traditional 37° Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival on the Gallfallalm in San Martino. Rustic folk music & children programme. Performance of the "Gaslkrocha" of Tesido. A unique and unforgettable celebration to end the summer in Val Casies Valley.

The legendary Schupfenfest in San Genesio is a rustic gastronomic festival that enthuses locals and tourists alike. The festival offers the opportunity to combine the pleasure of a beautiful hike in the alpine pastures with the enjoyment of traditional South Tyrolean specialities in mountain huts. The itinerary allows visitors to stop along the way at various 'Schupfe', or huts in South Tyrolean dialect, between San Genesio and Meltina, sampling various typical specialities, from the inevitable farmer's snack to dumplings, Strauben and other sweet pancakes. Of course, there is no shortage of good music or company. So, off to the Schupfenfest in Jenesien, possibly in traditional costumes: lederhosen and dirndl!

Today Badia celebrates the traditional "segra dl paisc", a festival for the whole village! The day begins with a solemn mass in the church, followed by the traditional cattle homecoming at 3.00 p.m. Of course, there are also culinary specialities and musical entertainment. When summer slowly draws to a close, the farmers bring their cows, calves, and sheep down from the mountain pastures. The reception in the valley is a celebration for everyone! Start of the festival at 10.00 am Arrival of the animals in Maiern at 11.30am At the end of September, the animals return from their summer retreat. After months of gorging themselves on lush Alpine meadows and recharging their batteries in the sun for the winter, cows and calves, sheep, and lambs migrate from the mountain to the valley. There, the numerous spectators await the festively decorated animals. But only with traditional music, in good company, and South Tyrolean specialities is the Alpine transhumance complete. Enjoyment and fun are well taken care of!

At the end of September, it’s that time again – the village of Colle in Val Casies Valley invites you to the traditional Keila Kirschta! The festivities kick off on Saturday with the ceremonial raising of the Kirschta Michl tree, followed by a lively evening with live music and a fantastic atmosphere in the festival tent. The highlight of the weekend is Sunday’s grand parade and cattle drive. Beautifully adorned animals, magnificently decorated festival wagons, and the solemn procession of marching bands turn the village into a vibrant stage of tradition and culture. Autumn days in Tramin …enjoy the golden autumn! The South Tyrolean Wine road changes into a colourful sea of vineyards and orchards. The farmers are in their heyday and the harvest gets taken in. Soon the barrels will be full, the fermentation of the popular juice from the grapes doesn’t take long to begin. Now the “Neue” new wine can be sampled, the most important moment of the year for the farmers. And celebrated it will be. How the new wine tastes – that will be found out by the people of Tramin and its guests during the traditional Autumn Days Tramin at the latest, which are always at the end of October. People of all age groups meet at the festival area that is richly decorated with lots of harvest products for a joyful festival. The “Neue” new wine and wines from Tramin get sampled; and along with this there are hearty South Tyrolean specialities. And all of the colourful shenanigans at the festival area are accompanied by the colourful and melodious performances of folk music groups. On Sunday, October 5, from 10:00 to 18:00, the traditional "Törggelen" festivity of the Marling folk dance group will take place on the Marling fairground. Food and drink will be provided. The morning pint starts at 10 a.m. Hearty traditional Törggelen with delicious roasted chestnuts and a glass of sweet wine are served from midday onwards. A youth band and a music group will provide atmospheric entertainment. You can look forward to a convivial Törggelen afternoon. The Marling folk dance group is looking forward to seeing you!

Autumn Festival of the Algund Brass Band On Sunday, October 5th, the Algund Brass Band invites you to their second Autumn Festival. Starting at 11:00 AM, enjoy a festive atmosphere with delicious food and great music. Four different music groups will provide entertainment this year: the Algund Youth Band, the philharmonic brass band from Zollernalb, a surprise new ensemble from the Algund Brass Band members, and the renowned "Fetzmusig," a brass ensemble from the Burggrafenamt that has been performing for over 20 years and includes several members of the Algund Brass Band. Culinary delights will be provided by the well-known kitchen of Gasthaus Kienegg in Vellau! The festival will continue until the early evening, and the Algund Brass Band looks forward to welcoming many visitors!

A special event awaits you at the cattle drive in St. Zyprian on the Platzliner meadow! The festivities start at 11:00 am, and around 1:30 pm, the beautifully decorated cattle will return from the alpine pastures to the valley – a colorful spectacle that brings tradition and culture to life. There will be lively music and entertainment, and of course, delicious regional specialties to satisfy your appetite. The farming associations of Tiers am Rosengarten look forward to welcoming you in great numbers for an unforgettable day together!

Alpine Folk Music Evening in Algund On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the Raiffeisen Hall at the house of culture Thalguter in Algund will transform into a place filled with traditional Alpine sounds. Starting at 8:30 PM, you can enjoy an evening of authentic folk music from the Alpine region, performed by outstanding music groups. Performers: Die Herwärtigen: Tanzlmusig Algund Die Hoamstanzer Michael Andreas Haas with a guitar solo from Reutte/Tyrol The lively group "Wetterhexn" The evening will be guided by Barbara Plattner. Locals and guests are warmly invited to share in this wonderful event. Admission is a voluntary donation. Experience the “Almabtrieb” in Terento! The ceremonial driving of cattle and sheep from the green pastures back to their home farms and warm barns is a long-standing tradition in Terento. For over 100 cows, calves and sheep this event marks the end of their stay in altitude where they enjoyed the fresh mountain air, tasty grass and cool nights. The animals are adorned with bells, wreaths, fresh flowers and ornate whetstone holders and they are driven down the valley by their herders. Plünderfuhren (procession floats), Goaslkrocha (whip crackers), Schuhplattlern (folk dancers) und and musical entertainment.
