The Original Tiroler Kaiserjägermusik is one of the most traditional and best brass bands in Tyrol. The gala concert in Merano offers wonderful melodies. The origins of the Kaiserjägermusik go back to the field musicians from 1741. The band was allowed to bear the name ‘Kaiserjägermusik’ from 16 January 1816, after a decree was issued by Emperor Franz I to this effect. The subsequent history of the Kaiserjägermusik was very chequered. It was dissolved and re-founded several times. On 25 April 1895, the former Tyrolean ‘Kaiser’ Jäger Regiment was transformed into four Tyrolean Kaiserjäger regiments, each of which was given a band. With the demise of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the bands of the Kaiserjäger regiments also fell silent. The Original Tiroler Kaiserjägermusik has been considered the musical ambassador of Tyrol for decades and contributes a great deal to the preservation of the military-historical tradition in Austria. „Christkindl wortn” - Christmas market at the church square of Völs To sweeten the wait for the Christ Child and conjure up a little light and warmth in the dark winter days, our church square with its majestic Christmas tree, atmospheric lighting and rustic market huts is transformed into a unique meeting place for our village community every year. The lovely local crafts, the warming mulled wine, the tasty treats and, above all, the very special music programme give us a pleasant feeling of togetherness.

Farmers and handcraft offer music, culinary delicacies, punch, hot wine, different handicrafts and natural products. The Farmers’ Advent takes place at the secondary school park (near the train station) of Klobenstein/Collalbo from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

‘Songs from Silence’ is a new solo recital based on his own compositions. It is a cycle of pieces dedicated for the first time to solo violin. The title refers to the profound nature of the act of composing, to that empty, silent space from which the composer must extract his ideas. That silence from which song and dance gradually emerge, is perhaps the same silence we face every time we try to grasp the root of who we are. ‘In this concert for my solo violin, there will be sounds and words in an attempt to tell something that resembles me as much as possible. Between confession and seduction.’

During the Advent time there is a pre-Christmas atmosphere in Silandro. On the weekend mid December the annual Christmas market takes place. Venosta hobby artists and craftsmen as well as local and Italian producers offer handmade gift ideas, traditional crafts and local products. The romantic weekend in the heart of Silandro is surrounded by Christmas sounds. In the shops you will find special offers and the restaurants spoil you with traditional and local delicacies.

Sergio Azzolini is one of the greats in his profession and he is from Bolzano. Sergio Azzolini studied from 1978 to 1985 with Romano Santi at the Monteverdi Conservatory in his home town and then at the Hanover University of Music with Klaus Thunemann. During this time he was already solo bassoonist in the European Community Youth Orchestra. In addition to his solo activities on the modern bassoon, Azzolini has been intensively involved with the baroque bassoon in recent years. Today he is regarded as the soloist on this instrument. For example, Azzolini plays under the direction of Christophe Coin in the Ensemble Baroque Limoges, with La Stravaganza Köln, the Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, L'aura soave Cremona, Parnassi musici, the Collegium 1704 and with the Holland Baroque Society. Since 2013, a particular focus has been on his collaboration with his own baroque orchestra L'Onda Armonica. Azzolini was a member of the Sabine Meyer Wind Ensemble and the Ma'alot Quintet and was artistic director of the Kammerakademie Potsdam from 2002 to 2007. After a professorship at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, Azzolini has been professor of bassoon and chamber music at the Basel University of Music since 1998. He also gives many masterclasses, including at the Weimar University of Music, the Vienna Conservatory and as part of the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition.
