On January 18 and 19, 2025, the "Ski Test" event will take place at the Monte Cavallo ski resort. Exhibitors from renowned alpine ski brands will be available to answer any questions and provide personalized advice tailored to the needs of each skier. Take this opportunity to test the latest equipment directly on the slopes of Monte Cavallo! The ski test is coordinated by the Outdoor Center Vipiteno, the ski rental and school located right at the Monte Cavallo valley station.

The hunters' biathlon in the Ridnauntal valley has long been a popular sporting event for hunters at an international level. The 24th anniversary edition on February 22, 2025 will also feature the exciting additional competition - in snoe shoes.

The Hausberg Festival will take place on March 29, 2025, at the Monte Cavallo ski resort, offering live music both at the mountain huts and in the evening at the valley station next to the Biwak restaurant. A major prize draw is also part of the program, with exciting prizes up for grabs – the grand prize is a car! At this outdoor festival, visitors can enjoy a diverse lineup of musicians and performers, from the rock band “The Fuel” to the renowned DJane ENA from Vipiteno (among the top 6 DJs in Italy). The Saturday day pass is also valid on Sunday and automatically includes participation in the prize draw. The Hausberg Festival is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the winter season together.

From April 4 to 6, 2025, Monte Cavallo will host the third edition of the children's ski race “SKIDS - The Snow Festival.” Children and young people from all over Europe will gather here to compete in ski races on the same mountain that hosted the Ski World Cup in the 1980s. In addition to the races on the slopes, a rich program of games and entertainment is planned, not only on the snow. While the young participants engage in sporting competitions, coaches and parents will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and deepen their knowledge of skiing during discussion sessions and conferences. Participants will enjoy three days full of fun and entertainment, both on Monte Cavallo and in the town of Vipiteno. Every Friday, from the beginning of April to mid-October, farmers from the Sterzing area offer their local quality products at the farmers' market. At the market in the town square of Sterzing, people meet for the weekly purchase of local South Tyrolean products or for a "glass of wine". The varied offer ranges from traditional bacon and “Kaminwurzen” , fresh and smoked trout, cheese and yogurt specialties, homemade bread, organic wines, herbs, honey, eggs to homemade juices and fresh vegetables. Locals and guests have appreciated the market for over a decade now. Tip: Do not miss the delicious “Krapfen and Tirtler” of the Wipptaler farmers' wives!

The Tour of the Alps 2025 once again promises thrilling cycling action amid the breathtaking Alpine landscapes. This prestigious stage race brings the world’s best cyclists to the region, combining outstanding athletic performance with stunning scenery. With demanding stages and challenging climbs, this year’s race is set to be a highlight of the international cycling calendar. The second stage, Mezzolombardo – Sterzing-Ratschings-Gossensass, is the centerpiece of the race and will take place on April 22, 2025. With 178 kilometers and an impressive elevation gain of 3,750 meters, it is the longest and most demanding stage of the Tour. Following a flat start in Trentino, the route takes on a challenging climb at Monte San Pietro, followed by a mix of further climbs and descents that demand utmost focus and stamina. The decisive section awaits the riders in the second half of the stage as they reach the South Tyrolean town of Sterzing. Here, a 16-kilometer circuit, which must be completed twice, takes them through the region. The course begins with a four-kilometer climb to Obertelfes (average gradient: 7%, with sections exceeding double digits), followed by a technically demanding descent. The final kilometers will be extremely fast-paced: after several large roundabouts, the last 500 meters lead to a slightly uphill, cobbled straightaway that finishes in the heart of Sterzing – a perfect stage for a dramatic finale! The next day, the peloton will continue to Innichen, where the third stage of the Tour begins.

During the treasure hunt in the great outdoors, we learn all kinds of interesting facts about the different breeds of cows in South Tyrol, why a cow produces milk and how butter used to be made. As we continue our walk to the Kneipp area, we go in hunt of dairy products and finally get to shake and taste butter ourselves. Who can solve the exciting quizzes and follow the trail of the treasure hunt? We then visit the animals on the farm and finish with a delicious yogurt ice cream.

The starting point is Flading in the Ratschingstal valley. Our route takes us up to the Gleckalm (not cultivated) via trail no. 30. The route alternates between flatter and steeper sections, which makes the hike particularly varied. The landscape presents itself in all its diversity and beauty. Once we have reached the Gleckalm plateau, we continue on our way to the Glecksee lake. The way back is mostly along the same path, but there is the option of organizing an alternative downhill version via the Klammalm. Total distance: 10.6 km (5.5 km to Glecksee) Total duration: 6.5 hours Difference in altitude: 950 m Difficulty: difficult - sure-footedness is required, a good level of fitness is essential and prior training is recommended. The Jaufental is an extraordinary valley of nature's tranquillity, and it is precisely here that we seduce you and your family and show you wonderful natural places. We experience the element of water at the Gurgl waterfall and while treading water at the mountain pasture, where we stop for refreshments. We discover various herbs, trees and alpine flowers along the way. Suitable for families and children aged 5 and over. Not suitable for baby carriages!

On this adventure hike, we immerse ourselves in a time when life still had an uncomplicated course, when there were no access roads to the mountain meadows, the tools were simple and basic, yet sophisticated, and of course there was no smartphone for a long time. We set off on foot and reach the mountain meadow, where we will explore the topic of mountain hay, not just thematically. For this weeks version "Light" we go to a mountain meadow at the end of the Ratschings valley. The exact location has not yet been decided. It will probably be the meadow about 300 m behind the Kneipp facility. The starting point is the Ratschings Jaufen cable car valley station (also accessible by bus), from where we will continue together towards the end of the valley.

The guided summit hike takes us from the Ratschings-Jaufen mountain station past the Wasserfaller Alm to the Rinnersattel. We reach the 2,331-metre-high Fleckner via the Jaufenkamm ridge. On the way back to the mountain station we pass the Äußere Wumblsalm and stop at the Saxnerhütte. This hike is only recommended for people aged 14 and over.

"A well-rounded experience" - preparing original South Tyrolean dumplings Experience a guided panoramic hike over the Platschjoch to the rustic Ungererhof in Schluppes, where we prepare original South Tyrolean dumplings together. Walter will show you the right way to shape the dumplings. Afterwards, we will taste the delicious traditional dish together. You will receive the recipe, so that you can make this classic South Tyrolean dish at home. Drinks are not included in the price!

On our autumn hike, we start at the parish church in Mittertal/Jaufental and hike along the Sennerbergbach up to the Sennerberg at 1,597 meters (approx. 300 vertical meters). On the way, we are enchanted by the untouched nature, which gives the area a very special energy. After a short break with a picnic, we continue our way back and visit the Sennerhof farm. There we have the opportunity to experience life on a farm up close and taste delicious, home-made goat products. The small farm store also offers the possibility to buy regional specialties.
