The hike starts in the village center of Deutschnofen | Nova Ponente. The hike begins on a tarred path, then a gravel path, then a forest path [E5] in the direction of Wölfl farm.The [E5] trail is the European long-distance hiking trail that leads from Constance over the Alps to Venice. By taking this route, the snowshoe hiker can experience a small section of this trail.
This winter hike starts at the quiet, deeply snow-covered Lake Carezza (Karer See | Lago di Carezza), whose winter charm is impressive right from the start. From here, the path leads along well-prepared trails through dense forests that exude a special sense of peace. The route is easy to walk, yet still offers varied sections with open views of the Dolomites. At the Stadlalm farm, a wide panoramic view unfolds, revealing snowy meadows as well as the Rosengarten Catinaccio and Latemar.
Growing in the Karerwald forest, the hazel tree is used especially for the production of string instruments. For this reason, the wood has also been called ‘tonewood’. You start from the Karerwald forest to walk to the popular boulder labyrinth which acquired its name from the house-sized boulders that fell during a massive landslide from the Latemar mountain long ago.

With the bus we reach Passo Costaluga where we take the path to a mysterious rock labyrinth which a huge landslide from the Latemar a long time ago has formed at the foot of the Latemar.where we follow the signposts no. 21 and 17, stretching underneath the Latemar. First we walk along a broad forested trail, until we reach the first signpost "Labyrinth". Immediately the forest ends and the mighty Latemar towers into the sky in front of our eyes.This snowshoe hike starts in Welschnofen | Nova Levante and begins with a somewhat steeper ascent. However, the effort is quickly rewarded with beautiful views as soon as you reach the Stadlalm hut. From here, there is a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio and Latemar, as well as the snow-covered alpine pastures.
From the Stadlalm hut, the path continues through the fairytale-like Latemar forest. On a well-maintained trail, it eventually leads to the Lake Carezza (Karer See | Lago di Carezza), one of the most famous natural gems of the Dolomites, whose winter scenery provides a perfect conclusion to the tour.

This easy and impressive circular hike is especially recommended due to the panoramic views to the Rosengarten, Schlern and Latemar mountains and the Alps. The hike can be combined with a visit at St. Helen chruch, which is famous for its high-Gothic frescoes. These mural paintings are amongst the most precious local examples of the High Gothic period. The church is open all year round. Just in front of the church, at the "Buschenschank" Kreuzhof, the visitors can taste typical south-tyrolean food.
