This small church near Völlan was built in 1705 by the Barons von Hausmann, who had a summer residence here.

This small, originally Romanesque, church named after the not so well known Saint, is situated on a unique basalt hill above Lana.

St. Hippolyt is a popular destination for excursions, a mythical place of energy since ancient times and an archaeological excavation site of prehistoric times. On St.Hippolyt one of the oldest settlement areas of the region was located.

The place was first mentioned in writing around 1200 A.D. but findings of Neolithic arrow heads, blades and scraping tools are proof of early settlements dating back 4,000 years.

Some of the excavated items are on display at the site. There are also traces of fire scenes that prove that this place was a scene of pagan rituals long before it became a Christian site.

The exposed location above Lana offers a fantastic panoramic view and accounts for the popularity of St. Hippolyt: From here you can see 20 towns and around 40 castles, fortresses and ruins. There is a comfortable walking trail leading from Völlan to the little church.

Take the Texelbahn cable car directly to the famous Merano High Mountain Trail (no. 24). Heading in a westerly direction towards Nasereit refuge, the via ferrata can easily be reached in around 1 hour on foot. The highlight of the Category C via ferrata is the bridge course with 2 zip lines and a rope bridge. There are exposed sections (difficulty C), otherwise most sections are B to B/C. Due to its fabulous location situated between streams and waterfalls in the pristine Ziel Valley, this via ferrata route is unique in the Texel Group Nature Park. An idyllic climbing highlight for experienced climbers, but also offering adventurous family fun in the mountains.

The new Ziel Via Ferrata route up to the Gingglegg, a rocky promontory behind the Nasereit refuge hut, offers difficulty of up to a maximum of level C over a distance of 500 m. From the Texelbahn mountain station, follow the pleasant path up to the Nasereit Hut, then cross over the bridge and follow the signposts. A forest track leads to the high pastures; red marker points and cairns show the entrance to the via ferrata route (from the Texelbahn a little more than an hour). The first part of the climb, which features two exposed sections (difficulty C) with spectacular views down to the Zielbach stream, is also suitable for families with children with experience of climbing. The gaps between the individual anchor points have been kept especially small. At the exit of this section, climbers reach a grassy knoll by the Zielbach, which can either be crossed by a rope bridge or by zip line (only a climbing harness with via ferrata cable kit required). The zip line is great for families, who can then cross back again via the rope bridge. Red dots mark the descent from the grassy knoll.

In order to reach the second, more difficult section of the via ferrata route, after crossing the Zielbach follow the marker points and you will soon reach the entrance to the upper section. The sloping slab terrain (difficulty B) requires good footwork. At the start there are still footholds - the short left traverse is conquered using the friction technique on small, steep treads (C). The first emergency exit is here. Next comes an initial short steep vertical climb, which again demands excellent footwork. Transferring the carabiner at the end of the steep vertical climb must be planned in advance in order to save energy (C). A short traverse to the right (B) leads to the next overhang (C), which is overcome with the help, among other things, of two metal ladder rungs. An apparently natural foothold on the left-hand side of the ascent facilitates climbing higher. The subsequent left traverse (B) is very exposed and ends at the next steep vertical climb (C). After this, the route continues along easy grassy terrain. Next comes a short section which can be wet, especially after bad weather or longer periods of rain. Two metal ladder rungs help to conquer the steep section (C). Level B challenges come next. A brief right traverse leads to the slightly overhanging key passage (C+), which is passable using artificial climbing aids and strength. A nice scramble (B) with many good handholds leads up to the long right traverse, the most exposed section of the entire climb (C). Even after this traverse there are still some C passages to overcome before the face register is reached. The less steep continuation of the route follows the ridge (B and C) and finally ends at the Gingglegg, a wonderful viewing point with amazing vistas of the Dolomites. The hiking trail leads back down to the Nasereit refuge hut in around 30 minutes and from there back to the starting point.

This year Tyrolean Advent in the Castle will be taking place in the historic ambience of Tyrol Castle for the tenth time. Tyrol Castle provides an atmospheric backdrop for a genuine South Tyrolean Christmas experience. Local exhibitors will present traditional handicrafts such as felting, pottery, turning, spinning, braiding, dyeing and the production of ceramics or jewelry in the castle's rooms.
There will be a well-balanced program of events for visitors every day during Advent in the Castle: whilst crackling fires make for a cozy atmosphere, food stands will offer traditional dishes, baked goods and drinks. The old church of Gargazon was first mentioned in 1337. The nave walls date from this period, the present form came into being in the 17th century. The fresco on the facade dates from the 14th century, the stucco marble altar from the 19th century. The church is not open to visitors.

The Church of St. Felix (St. Felixkirche), which is situated above the Marling Waalweg trail, is only accessible on some guided tours of the village. The water in the open well has long been said by the local people to have special healing powers.

Small church with three apses in Romanesque style, with a cycle of frescoes dating back to 1215. Restored in 1969 and 1982.

Traces of the Middle Ages are omnipresent throughout South Tyrol. Among many fortresses, castles and mansions, important monasteries and thousands of churches and chapels there are also impressive historic examples of the early and high Romanesque period.

In Lana, that alone boasts more than 30 monasteries and chapels, you can find architectural and artistic traces from before 1000 AD. One highlight, among many others, is the cycle of frescoes in early Romanesque style that can be seen in the three apses church of St. Margareth's.

Stories date St. Margareth's back to the end of the 10th century and it is said that the small church with its three apses was a gift of Theophano, the Byzantine wife of Emperor Otto II. The only remains from the original Romanesque building that can still be seen today are the round apses with their paintings from 1215. Like in the church of St. Kastelaz the bases depict bestiaries.

The Church of St. John Nepomuk was built in the 17th century. It carries trains both the Renaissance and the Baroque and contains precious altars, statues and votive paintings, which recall the once flourishing pilgrimage here.

Mentioned for the first time in 1326 in a charter of the "Allerengelberg Carthusian Monastery" in the Val Senales/Schnalstal, which granted the monks "the right to fish from St. Helena's Church at the Tel/Töll up to Eyrs (Val Venosta Valley)." The walled-up Romanesque windows on the south side, as well as the patronage "St. Helena with the Cross," suggest an older age! The current form, an almost square structure with a straight-ending chancel with polygonal vaulting, definitely originated in the 14th century. The barrel-vaulted, straight-ending chancel and the small tower with a square helmet date from a later time. Remarkable is the panel painting on the north wall (15th century), the crucifix (16th century) and the statues of the "Sorrowful," "St. John," and "St. Helena" (17th century), the neo-Gothic altars from the 18th century, dedicated to "St. John of Nepomuk" and "St. John," and placed instead of the former Gothic high altar. From the fresco on the southern exterior wall, only a little of St. Christopher is still visible, and the niche of St. Helena is now empty.

Adjacent is the "Töllmesnerhof," which was also used as a schoolhouse until 1991.
In 1993, on the hundredth anniversary of Peter Mitterhofer's death, the first Typewriter Museum was opened in the former school rooms, thanks to the private collection provided by Kurt Ryba.

The St. Hippolyt church in the north of the municipality of Tisens/Tesimo, near the village of Völlan/Foiana and above Lana, dominates the hill of St. Hippolyt in Naraun/Narano, which is visible from afar. 

This is not only a popular and easily accessible excursion site, whose panorama from the mountains of the Texelgruppe all the way down to Bolzano is second to none, but also an ancient settlement and cult site. Finds of Neolithic arrowheads, blades and mortars show that people were already living here in the 4th millennium BC, almost 6,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest prehistoric settlement sites in South Tyrol. There is also evidence of a prehistoric sanctuary on the hill.

The little church of St. Hippolyt was first mentioned in 1288, but is probably much older - not least because of its rare patron saint. Parts of the nave walls and the offset round apse still bear witness to the Romanesque church. The two pointed-arched slit windows and the likewise pointed-arched entrance door with rosette in the west were created during reconstruction work in the Gothic period. Towards the end of the 17th century, the tower was added (a votive picture from 1679 still shows the church without a tower, but with a choir bell wall). The bell was cast in 1566 by Simon Hofer and is thus the oldest surviving bell in the parish. The barrel vault in the nave was inserted in 1762 (see date on the triumphal arch). 
Inside the church, the altar and the pulpit date from the 2nd half of the 17th century, the statues of St. Isidore and St. Roch, as well as the image of St. Hippolytus from the 2nd half of the 18th century. 

As Saint Hippolyt is also venerated as the patron saint of the weather, ringing the bells in thunderstorms were once part of the duty of the sacristan of St. Hippolyt in Naraun. Due to the exposed location of the church, however, lightning strikes occurred time and again. Since the 17th century, no fewer than six deaths during weather ringing have been recorded in the parish's death register, which is why the little church was given the nickname "Zum bösen Segen" (to the evil blessing). 

The church is only open on certain holidays. However, the hill offers a wonderful panoramic view all year round.

The path of reflection to the Luminous Rosary and in memory of Pope John Paul II, built in 2010, leads to the church. Six bronze reliefs with the mysteries of the Luminous Rosary and a portrait of the deceased Pope await the pilgrim on the way. They are works by the artist Robert Giovanazzi from Merano, which were realised by the art founders Stefan and Vinzenz Dirler, natives of Prissian/Prissiano.
