The Tour of the Alps 2025 once again promises thrilling cycling action amid the breathtaking Alpine landscapes. This prestigious stage race brings the world’s best cyclists to the region, combining outstanding athletic performance with stunning scenery. With demanding stages and challenging climbs, this year’s race is set to be a highlight of the international cycling calendar. The second stage, Mezzolombardo – Sterzing-Ratschings-Gossensass, is the centerpiece of the race and will take place on April 22, 2025. With 178 kilometers and an impressive elevation gain of 3,750 meters, it is the longest and most demanding stage of the Tour. Following a flat start in Trentino, the route takes on a challenging climb at Monte San Pietro, followed by a mix of further climbs and descents that demand utmost focus and stamina. The decisive section awaits the riders in the second half of the stage as they reach the South Tyrolean town of Sterzing. Here, a 16-kilometer circuit, which must be completed twice, takes them through the region. The course begins with a four-kilometer climb to Obertelfes (average gradient: 7%, with sections exceeding double digits), followed by a technically demanding descent. The final kilometers will be extremely fast-paced: after several large roundabouts, the last 500 meters lead to a slightly uphill, cobbled straightaway that finishes in the heart of Sterzing – a perfect stage for a dramatic finale! The next day, the peloton will continue to Innichen, where the third stage of the Tour begins.

No registration is needed, and there’s no set starting point—just follow the route counterclockwise and enjoy the experience. The traffic-free roads around the Sella Group offer a unique thrill: cycling in the peaceful embrace of the Dolomites. The tour covers 53 km with a total elevation gain of 1,600 meters, but everyone is free to set their own pace, take breaks, or stop at any time. The event will take place on June 7th and September 13th, with road closures from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. During the event, photos and videos may be taken for documentation and promotional purposes. These recordings may be used and published on websites, social networks, and media channels in compliance with privacy regulations.

All four Dolomite passes around the Sella massif (Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi and passo Sella) are closed from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. to motor vehicles on this day, leaving the roads entirely free to cyclists. A unique chance to enjoy the freedom of these Alpine roads on your bicycle. Participation is open to everybody and completely free of charge. Start is at the Nives Square in Selva Val Gardena.

The Dolomites Bike Day ia a unique kind of Saturday! Cyclists of all abilities can ride together on closed roads, up and down the local mountain cols and passes. The 51km loop is open to anyone: professionals, amateurs, youngsters, and beginners. Even using an e-bike is allowed! On this Saturday, from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. the Dolomites passes roads Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola will be closed to the traffic and reserved exclusively for cyclists. At the non-competitive cycling event, every cyclist can take part for free. We recommend to ride in counterclockwise direction. On 27 June 2025, the legendary Stelvio road will be closed to motorised traffic for the first half of the night and will be completely open to cyclists and pedestrians. The last seven kilometres of the 'Berghotel Franzenshöhe' before the summit will be magically illuminated by indirect lighting to show participants the way to the 2,757-metre peak. Whether on foot, by (E-)bike or other non-motorised means of transport; everyone is invited to take an enjoyable journey along the Stelvio Pass road at night on June 27, 2025 EXPERIENCE A MAGICAL MOMENT AND A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE! Looking back in time, you realize how much things have changed. Way back in 1987, a group of enterprising local enthusiasts began to believe in a dream, a cycling race that starting from Alta Badia would have touched the most beautiful passes in the Dolomites. When the first Maratona took place, there was no talk about granfondo yet, the live TV broadcast was unimaginable, tourism development did not meet the current requirements and these daredevils would never have dared to hope that the "Maratona dles Dolomites" would become one of the most famous granfondo worldwide, with 8,000 participants from five continents and with over 30,000 requests of participation each year. The beauty of the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is in riding the mountain passes that have made the history of world cycling without the harassment of cars and motorcycles. The Giro delle Dolomiti, in its 48th edition from July 21-25, 2025, returns to the great Dolomite classics on the territories of South Tyrol and Trentino. Each stage (5 in total) will feature, a mountain time trial that will help determine the overall winner. For the rest of the route, you will pedal in a speed-controlled peloton. For five days cyclists ‘may’ explore the Dolomites and some of the most beautiful Alpine passes in the saddle of their racing bikes. The first stage (75km/1529m of altitude difference) will take them on Monday, 21 July from the Fiera Bolzano, which will remain the logistical centre, via Ora and Aldino to the pilgrimage site of Maria Weißenstein and from there back via Nova Ponente and the Val d'Ega. Just one day later, the notorious Sellaronda will be tackled from Ponte Gardena, which with a length of 107 kilometres and 3100 metres of altitude difference is without doubt the queen's stage. Two pass crossings that are very well-known among cyclists will also be faced on the 92km long section with 1691 metres of altitude difference on Wednesday, 23 July. These are the Passo della Mendola and the Passo della Palade, which will be explored from Bolzano again this time. On Thursday, the cyclists will head to the Vinschgau Valley. Starting in Prato, they will tackle the Stelvio Pass, one of the queens of the Alps, and not just because of the 48 hairpin bends on the South Tyrolean side. The Giro delle Dolomiti 2025 will conclude on Friday, 25 July on the Alpe di Siusi (80km/1775m of altitude difference), the largest plateau in Europe. In the afternoon, the traditional award ceremony will take place at the Fiera Bolzano, where the participants will hopefully look back on many unforgettable moments on the 411 kilometres with 9577 metres of altitude difference.

Cycling Day with closed roads from Pennes and Vipiteno to the Passo Pennes - Penser Joch Pass on Saturday, 7 September 2024 from 09.30 a.m. till 04.30 p.m.

1,869 metres in altitude, 48 hairpin bends and an incredible all-round panorama await cyclists who get into the saddle at the Stilfserjoch Bike Day. Every year, the legendary pass road on the Stilfserjoch - one of the highest passable Alpine crossings - is closed to traffic for one day and only opened to "two-wheelers" and pedestrians. A starting point for the Stilfserjoch cycling day is in Prad am Stilfserjoch or also in Spondinig. On this popular cycling day, the aim is to conquer one of the highest Alpine crossings, the 2,760-metre-high Stifserjoch. Not a bike race, but: Being there is everything! Lowest point (START): Prad am Stilfserjoch (910 metres) Highest point (FINISH): Stilfser Joch Pass (2,758 metres) Distance Prad – Stilfser Joch: 24.96 km Difference in altitude Prad – Stilfser Joch: 1,848 metres Maximum ascent: 15% Average ascent: 9–11% Safety and road closures: The road closure for motorised vehicles (except e-bikes) applies from TRAFOI to the top of the Stelvio Pass (BZ) from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. The same closure applies from Bormio to the top of the pass (LO) and on the Siusi side, the Umbrail Pass! Helmets are compulsory for your own safety. Being there is everything! You do not need to register for the start in Prad to take part in the Stelvio Cycling Day. There is no mass start! Everyone starts for themselves. The best start time in Prad is from 6.30 am to 10.30 am. Various car parks in Prad and the surrounding area.

The 3-Länder Enduro Race is pure Enduro racing: Varied and long trails form the perfect basis for three days of Enduro in a class of its own. At the Reschenpass in the border triangle of Austria, South Tyrol and Switzerland, there is an abundance of trails that - mainly due to their length - offer fun and challenge at the same time. Largely natural, the sometimes rooty, sometimes stony, sometimes flowing trails challenge the skills of the riders. From Nauders or Reschen, you usually take the lift to the trail entrance - but in keeping with the true Enduro philosophy, you also have to pedal the one or other hundred meters of altitude. The reward for this is twofold: a beautiful mountain world and the already mentioned routes of the 3-Länder Enduro Trails. And after training or at the end of the (racing) day, you meet at Nauders to chill and barbecue together.

The Eroica is the most popular vintage cycling event in the world! “L’Eroica is poetry on two wheels”, where time seems to have stood still. L’Eroica looks to the future with the values of the past that made cycling popular and inspired some of the best literature of the twentieth century.

For the 19th time now, the environmental group of Kaltern, together with the umbrella organisation for nature and environmental protection, the environmental group and the municipality of Eppan, is organising the car-free cycling day on the Mendel - a visible sign of active climate protection. The road is closed to motorised traffic from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. from Oberplanitzing junction to the Mendel Pass. So it's free to ride for cyclists!
