The hour of birth of the alphorn is and will probably remain unknown. When we talk about an "alphorn" today, we mean a long, straight wooden horn bent at the bottom. For centuries, horn instruments of different materials and shapes have been made and played on all continents. As early as the 16th century, the alphorn served not only as a call and signal horn, but also as a toy for alpine shepherds and has become firmly stablished in the Alpine region in recent decades, with its own style of playing and dialect. Concert of the alphorn players in the village center of Seis am Schlern at 5:00 pm.

46th carnival parade in Laives/Leifers Themed carnival floats, special dances and choreographies, sweets, fun, and a colorful array of costumes: the grand Carnival parade has become a tradition and an integral part of the community in Laives. Program: 10 am | carnival floats on display along via Kennedy (from the intersection with via Dante to the Eurospar supermarket) 1 pm | start of the parade in via Kennedy, Laives/Leifers 4 pm | arrival of the parade in Pineta/Steinmannwald with subsequent award ceremony with music and refreshments until 6 pm on the piazzetta Don Domenico Penner. A shuttle train will provide free and continuous service on the Laives - Pineta route until the end of the event. In the park at Pineta there will be entertainment for children and a best mask contest will take place. In the event of bad weather, the event will be postponed to Sunday 2nd March 2025.
