The Merano Flower Festival is a must for botany and garden lovers and a colourful experience for all those who love beauty. The Kurpromenade, with the Kurhaus as a backdrop and elegant architectural setting, creates the perfect ambience for this exclusive flower and ornamental plant exhibition. The offer ranges from plants, flowers, seeds, gardening tools to garden objects. The exhibitors have been selected by the journalist, book author and Grand Dame of the flora, Mimma Pallavicini, who has set the pace of horticulture and nature awareness in Italy for over 30 years.

At the Bergler Harass picnic in Tiers am Rosengarten, nature lovers can savour a range of hearty farmers’ fare with a view over the legendary Dolomites (UNESCO World Heritage). The picnic will take place on June 2nd at the Wuhnleger, an Alpine meadow with a small lake whose waters reflect the Rosengarten. A wooden crate (namend harass in german dialect) will serve as a picnic basket, jam-packed with traditional products from Tiers, including sheep’s cheese, venison salami, Tiers bread, butter, milk, raspberry juice and doughnuts. You pay for what you choose as content. The participants can enjoy the afternoon sitting on a blanket down the shady larchs. Musical entertainment will round off this sociable afternoon to perfection. Registration is not required.

Nestled at the foot of the snow-covered local mountain, Kronplatz, a stroll through the alleys of the old town reveals this special blend of Alpine coziness and Italian dolce vita. This is precisely why a visit to the Bruneck Christmas Market during the Advent season is an absolute must. The festive anticipation can be felt throughout the entire town. Lovingly decorated stalls invite visitors to browse through handicrafts, sweet treats, handmade decorations, and culinary delights. And with a cup of mulled wine, a winter evening can be pleasantly rounded off in good company.

The Gsiesertal Lauf is one of the best-known and best-loved ski marathons in the entire Alpine region. It is the second largest ski marathon in Italy, and is held on the 3rd weekend in February in the Val Casies Valley, South Tyrol (Italy). Ever since it was first held back in 1984, this race has never once been cancelled due to weather conditions. In 2021, the event was cancelled for reasons of force majeure (Corona). The event attracts a great deal of international skiers, with a good forty nations at the starting line every year and a great many World and Olympic Champions listed on the roll of honour. In 2026, it will take place at the same time as the ‘Milan-Cortina Olympics’. This is a unique opportunity for all participants to experience some Olympic competitions either in the neighbouring Antholz Valley or in Cortina (distance 35 km) in addition to their own sporting activities. The race runs along two routes, one of 30 km and one of 42 km; the classic race is held on Saturday and the skating race on Sunday. The amateur “Just for Fun” group. with none of the stress of rankings and timekeeping, is also extremely popular, and the programme of events also includes the “Gsiesertal KIDS Run” on Saturday.

The idea for the festival was born in 2015 after the premiere of the light and music show at the Hofburg in Brixen. The first edition of the festival was held in May 2017.
