The “cat” in “snowcat” is actually short for “caterpillar”, but over here in South Tyrol we liked the English term so much that we translated it literally… and now we call our snow groomers “Schneekatzen”. This presentation will be an opportunity for you to meet our 14-tonne purring monster. The driver will be happy to tell you all about how snowcats work. Fun fact: being a snowcat driver has become the dream job for many South Tyrolean children, replacing the more traditional excavator driver and ship’s captain. No registration required.

To find out what has remained of this tradition, what winegrowing in the abbey’s vineyards involves today and the philosophy on which it is based, come on a vineyard tour. We’ll not only tell you all about Neustift winegrowing but also serve you its products. The tour of the vineyards together with the following wine tasting takes about 90 minutes in all. And lasts for longer. Participation in the vineyard tour is only possible with prior registration. This farm tour is a great opportunity to explore rural life in South Tyrol and learn all about the animals living on the farm.
