This competition, now in its 28th edition, is an adventure in creativity and originality, where participants challenge themselves by working with a fascinating and intricate medium. The result? Perfect and evocative works that seem to come to life. This competition has now become a tradition, having started in the early '90s. Sculptors and artists, mainly from the valley, who typically work with wood, enjoy three days of creating their giant-sized figures in icy snow. It's a spectacle that you can admire for hours, always discovering new details meticulously carved by the sculptors. This year, the theme of the competition focuses MUSIC, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Wolkenstein music band, which will be celebrated in 2025. The winners of the snow sculpture competition will be chosen by an expert jury. In addition, a People's Choice Award will be awarded separately. The award ceremony will take place on Monday, 30 December 2024 at 4 p.m. on the municipal meadow.

On the full moon nights, the trails and the ski rental of the Cross-country ski centre Monte Pana will be open for you. The admission is free. The cross-country tracks are 30 km long, you can choose between 5 tracks of various levels of difficulty.

In Ortisei you can’t just find carved traditional sculptures of wood, but in winter also some made of ice. In the week from 20.01.-26.01.2025, the Tourist Office Ortisei, in coorporation with local artists, will realize sculptures, that you can admire along the pedestrian area. Pilat Ski Show: On 29.02.24 there will be a torchlight descent of the ski instructors of the Ski School Ortisei and the Ski School Saslong, on the Pilat slope to Ortisei. The torchlight descent starts at 9:00 p.m. at the Seiser Alm mountain station. Over 80 ski instructors will reach the Palmer slope in St. Ulrich by around 9:15 p.m. Enjoy warm drinks and music by "Simon Deejay" as you experience this unforgettable event to the fullest. The children of the nursery school provide an entertaining children's music programme with dance and music. As barley soup with smoked carré was usually cooked for lunch on Fat Thursday, young people and children would sleep in their neighbours' houses to swap the soup pot with the tasty dish for a pot with an old shoe floating in the water.
