During the Advent season and until the end of January 2025, the Christmas works of Martha Kainz can be admired in the Women's Museum as part of a small exhibition. Martha Kainz from St. Walburg in Ulten has been making handicrafts in the ‘tradition of convent work’ for 25 years.

The project, proposed by the Passirio Merano association and the city of Merano in collaboration with the Merano Women's Museum, shows a selection of photographs, printed using fine art techniques, taken during a long journey by the author through seven Asian countries (Thailand, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran) with the declared aim of documenting the situation of women.

Accompanied by our mountain guide, we head from the Mastaun farmstead (1,640 m) along the stream into the Mastaun valley. After passing the Mastaun alpine hut (1,810 m), the tour heads into the rear part of the valley up to an altitude of approximately 2,000 m. During a pleasant rest, you can enjoy the tranquillity of nature and the quiet winter idyll. Afterwards, you return to the meeting point. Walking time: approx. 4-5 hours including breaks. However, since the start of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine in 2022, the debate about the reintroduction of compulsory military service in Italy and other European countries has become topical again. But what does it actually mean to join the military? What happens there and what is the historical background to this question? What values, convictions and constraints are hidden behind the term Naia? What role do ideas of masculinity, body images and violence play? And how does the military relate to the nation state? "Über di Naia" is based on extensive research into this topic and attempts to answer these questions in a contemporary, dynamic and at the same time seriously humorous way. Personal experiences are often shared in the company of people who lived through the time of general conscription. Some talk with a nostalgic note about the comradeship or the food, while others tell of unpleasant experiences such as mustering, abuse of power, violence and homophobia in the barracks. There is a rich oral storytelling tradition around this topic. Director Joachim Gottfried Goller and dramaturge Armela Madreiter have collected these stories in extensive interviews. In "Über di Naia" they are presented in the form of fragmented such as information brochures, legal texts and newspaper articles. Later, these are mixed with historical personalities and current discussions in online forums on the topic. Together, the texts and stories form a dense fabric of voices that are interpreted by the actresses in a variety of ways - sometimes musically, sometimes lyrically, sometimes playfully. When asked about the motivation behind this piece, Madreiter explains: In one of our interviews, someone said: A weapon is only there to kill someone. You have to remember that. I have to admit to myself that I tend to forget that. We were also repeatedly met with astonishment during the trial: why anything about the Naia? - The fact that the military apparatus is nothing more than an institution for preparing for war is something that is generally forgotten. Talking about the military or analysing the institution of Naia using various means and forms, is perhaps another way of dealing with the devastating possibility of a new war in several European countries.

Snow does not always appear pure white, at least not to the attentive gaze of two painters like Alfons Walde or Max von Esterle. In his paintings, von Esterle poetically celebrates the magic of snow, while Walde - a little later - does so with concise expressiveness. This is the first time that these two important painters appear together in an exhibition. Alongside theirs, there are also snow-covered landscapes by other contemporary Italian and Austrian artists. All of these paintings create a variegated fabric that, unravelling, creates an unmissable spectacle. In the exhibition, of course, exponents of the art of our time with their abstract compositions or thought-provoking installations have not been left out. At the conclusion of the exhibition, in fact, at a time of climate change, a question about the ‘future of snow’ could not be left out: how much longer will we be able to enjoy this spectacle? The Ötzi Glacier Tour is an extremely varied one day round tour, which crosses the main chain oft the Alps. It takes place every Tuesday and upon request. The undisputed highlight of this accompanied glacier skitour is the discovery site of Ötzi the Iceman (3,210 m). Starting from Kurzras. From there we will travel by cable car to the Grawand mountain terminal (3,100 m./10,170 ft.), the actual starting point of our tour. From there, we will travel over the Hochjochferner (2,800 m / 9,186 ft.) to the Schwarze Wand and on to the Hauslabjoch (3,280 m./ 10,761 ft.) We will then descend to the Tisenjoch (3,210 m. /10,532 ft.), the site where Ötzi was discovered. After a brief stop, we will ascend to the Hauslabjoch and descend into the Hochjoch Valley and continue down the valley to Kurzras. With suitable snow conditions, the course of the tour may change after the site where Ötzi was discovered: descent past the Similaun Refuge (3,019 m / 9,905 ft.) and through the Tisen Valley to Vernagt am See. Return to Kurzras. Ski tour for beginners and slightly advanced skiers accompanied by a mountain guide. Descent on skis from the mountain station Grawand to an altitude of around 2,700 meters. From this point you start the ascent in the open terrain, which, depending on the conditions, brings the group to 3,100 m (glacier terrain). After a short rest, a descent in soft powder awaits you.
