Exhibition of summer mushrooms at the Urania House in Merano for the 12th time
200 to 300 edible, poisonous and inedible mushroom species can be viewed
MERAN - The exhibition of summer mushrooms will be held for the 12th time from 6 to 8 September 2024 at the Urania House in Merano. It is organised by the Urania in collaboration with the Bolzano branch of the Bresadola Mycological Association. For 11 years, Andrea Mochi from Merano has organised the event for 11 years. This year, for the first time, the member of the board of the Bolzano local group, Klaus Köcher from Merano, is organising the mushroom exhibition in Merano. Mochi and Köcher belong to the Bolzano branch of the Bresadola mushroom association. The opening hours of the mushroom exhibition in Merano are on Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 7.00 pm. The opening of the mushroom exhibition will open on Friday, 6 September, at 6 pm in the Alton room of the Urania Merano.
After the opening, the mushroom exhibition will be open until 7 pm on Friday.
Admission to the mushroom exhibition is free.
For centuries, each June shepherds have been driving their sheep from the Schnalstal Valley across the still snow-mantled saddles to graze in the pasturelands belonging to the farmers in Venter Valley in Austria. They return in mid September. About 1,500 sheep leave from the “Rofenberg-Alm“ in the early morning, reaching Hochjoch near the Bella Vista lodge (2845m) at about 11:30 a. m. The sheep arrive in Maso Corto between 3:00 p. m.
The Bella Vista hut (2845 m) can be reached in about 1 hour on foot from the top station of the Roter Kofel chairlift (2543 m), follow the signs and trail number 3.

At 11 a.m. the ceremonial procession to the church service begins, accompanied by the miners' flag and the old image of St. Barbara from the Martinstollen.
The music band of Rabenstein provides the musical accompaniment.
Followed by a short concert, miners' dance, music and entertainment.
The miners' games begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by a prize-giving ceremony.
Free guided tour in the afternoon.
Festival at Verdins:
Visitors to this festival can enjoy folk music and South Tyrolean specialities. It’s a date that locals and guests mark red in their diaries.

Our Packraft - Tour homerun (difficulty level medium) is something for adventurous water rats who want to test themselves and conquer the Adige river in their own boat. With action, fun and assertiveness, we master rapids, go around obstacles and relax on calm passages.
Accompanied by one of our qualified guides, the tour begins at our rafting base in Rabland/Rablà, where the equipment is handed out. With bag and baggage we go to Ciardes/Tschars.
Arriving at the boat entrance, we unpack our packrafts (inflatable kayaks) and pump them up.
As soon as all the kayaks are ready, there is an introduction to the paddling technique and a detailed safety briefing.
Shortly after, we're off into some extraordinary, splashing water fun.

Discover the train station! The entertainment train station at Naturno/Stava is the old train station of the Val Senales. It shows an electric train on an 800 m track, an original steam engine locomotive Waldenburg Switzerland, a tank engine locomotive, and two wagons of the Rhaetic train. At Tholerhof, both young and old, have the opportunity to gain their first riding experiences and get a feel for sitting in the saddle of these fascinating and powerful Haflinger horses and Shetland ponies. After riding, children can help with grooming and taking care of the horses. For more experienced riders, Tholerhof offers great rides in the forest around Aschbach. From high up on the horse, you'll see the surroundings from a more impressive perspective.
During the family-friendly Discovery Tour, adults and children can learn all about the life of Ötzi the Iceman: At the archeoParc Museum, you’ll find various different
challenges for you to overcome. Using your Discovery Kit, you’ll visit a Stone Age house, bake some break, and try on some of Ötzi’s clothing. And would you like to try
shooting with a bow and arrows, or maybe riding in a dug-out canoe? And there’s a little surprise at the end!

Majestically perched on a rock, the pilgrimage church of Unser Frau in Schnals/ Madonna di Senales is the starting point for a roughly 2.5-hour hike along Via Monachorum via the ancient larch trees of Schnals, waterfalls, and mountain springs to the former Carthusian monastery of Allerengelberg in Karthaus/Certosa.

Discover Lana - welcome tour. Every Monday, guests are welcomed in front of the information office in Lana, the weekly programme is presented followed by a tour of the historic centre of Lana.
You will receive useful information about the holiday region of Lana (countryside and people, hiking, excursions, visits to restaurants, fruit and wine growing, etc.) and learn about interesting monuments from eight centuries. Christoph Gufler, who has published numerous books on "South Tyrolean regional studies", will be happy to answer your questions, starting at the Lana information office, 10.00 am.
