Gala, Kanzi, Fuji, Red Delicious – these illustrious names represent four of the total of 18 varieties of apple that flourish in the sunny orchards tended by South Tyrol's farmers. Crisp, juicy and fresh, famed as a vitamin bomb and popular well beyond the borders of the region, there is plenty to learn about the South Tyrolean apple. Did you know, for example, that the apple originally came from Kazakhstan? Or that one in three of all organic apples harvested in Europe comes from South Tyrol? Together with apple grower Christine we set out on a journey of discovery through the local apple orchards. Our charming and knowledgeable guide shares plenty of interesting and curious facts about the apple growing industry in South Tyrol, about organic and integrated cultivation, the different varieties, the ingenious methods of naturally-derived plant protection and the protected designation of geographical origin. During the subsequent tasting of the different apple varieties participants can enjoy talking shop about the apples’ flavours and textures and their personal favourites. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions of our expert.

ONLY IN GERMAN OR ITALIAN How is honey made, how is a bee colony organised and why are these busy insects that never seem to get tired so important for us? This guided tour into the world of bees and beekeepers provides the answers to questions like these and more. Expert Christian Kessler from the Partschins Beekeeping Association give an overview of the lives of these hard-working little pollinators, show how they work in the open beehive and the amazing social behaviour of bees, and explain how honey gets from the flower to a jar with the “Made in South Tyrol” brand label on it. Equipped with the right protective clothing, participants can marvel at and literally get to grips with the inner life of the bee hive at close quarters. The guided tour also explains the role that the beekeeper plays, what exactly he does and how his activities must be strictly aligned to the course of the bees’ year. Afterwards, participants can discover the outstanding quality of South Tyrolean honey for themselves by tasting various types of honey.

Also on the agenda are visits to the mausoleum, old and new Parish Churches and St. Martin’s Chapel. This is then followed by a tour of Schenna Castle for anyone who would like to take part.

After 1945, many bunkers remained operational during the "Cold War" until they were decommissioned in the 1990s and transferred to the Province of South Tyrol. Some of these defensive structures hold historical significance, offering unique architectural insights today. The bunker at Töll was acquired by the municipalities of Algund and Marling and has been made accessible for guided visits. The guided tour is given in German language. An insider tip of the first order is the Blütenhöfefest on Sunday, 13 April 2025, in which 15 traditional farms in Lana, Völlan, St. Pankraz and Tscherms take part. Visitors will get to know historic farms and artistic residences in an enjoyable way and savour typical farm products on site. Visitors who are fit enough to walk follow well-signposted hiking trails and hike from farm to farm, while those who are more leisurely can take the free shuttle buses to the farms from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Please note: Not all courtyards are suitable for coaches (50-seater). Due to limited parking facilities, certain farms can only be reached by a small shuttle or on foot. Larger groups are requested to register with the farms. There are limited parking spaces for coaches in Lana, two bus parking spaces are located in Lorenzer Straße and three in Zollstraße in front of the ex-Pomus. In the event that the indicated parking spaces are already sold out, it is advisable to drop off passengers at the bus station and continue to the car park of the Exclusive discotheque in Meranerstraße Lana or to the Lana industrial area where there are additional parking spaces.

Join beekeeper Michael every Wednesday at 4:00 PM for an unforgettable journey into the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping. Explore the wonders of a beehive, take a selfie with the queen bee, and sample fresh honey straight from the comb—if you're feeling brave! Afterward, indulge in a tasting of over 10 unique honey-based specialties. Michael’s award-winning creations are not only healthy but also a true delight for the taste buds. Bee tours are available from early May to late September every Wednesday, or by request outside of these dates. Advance registration is required by Wednesday at 12:00 PM at the Marling Tourist Association.The tour is conducted in German or Italian. Duration: approximately 1.5 hours.

From 26 to 28 May 2025, the new schenna e.motion event will be all about electric mobility and enjoyment. In addition to excursions with electric vehicles to the most beautiful places in South Tyrol, there will be a special supporting programme with an e-test and safety day in Bolzano, a tour of an e-plant, high-class enjoyment evenings and much more.

This apple tour will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about our local fruit. You can explore the plantages in the company of our apple experts and follow the storage, sorting, packaging and shipping of the South Tyrolean apple. Our apple expert will let you in on all kinds of secrets about our apples' goodness, the varieties and how best to store them at home. Registration for participation at the Tourist Association Marling, until monday, 4 p.m. Our guide only speaks german.

Starting from the village center, the trail winds through quiet streets and passes by the Cantina Merano and numerous local wineries. Along the way, you’ll encounter informative panels about the history and culture of wine, as well as larger-than-life winegrowing installations. This approximately 1.5-hour walk concludes with a wine tasting at a local winery in Marling or the Cantina Merano a Marling. Guided by a winemaker or cellar master, you’ll enjoy a selection of local wines paired with a traditional Marendbrettl (Tyrolean snack board).
