Edmund Tyrone, their younger son: Fabian StrombergerA terribly nice family. The abysmal life of a family, told in a single day, between morning and midnight: the Tyrones are finally reunited after a long time. And there are arguments, as so often. Father James, once a successful stage hero, tyrannises the family with his avarice. Mother Mary, once a beauty queen, has not been through her first rehab programme. Like his father, son James is an actor, cynic and drinker. And the younger son Edmund suffers from tuberculosis, which is trivialised as summer flu. Success and contentment gradually turn out to be self-deception. Only Mary still harbours hope for the "tiny measure of love that exceeds the measure of hate".
Judith Rosmair, Peter Kremer (known from the TV series "Siska", among others), Igor Karbus and Fabian Stromberger uncover the psychological wounds of the family members they portray layer by layer. Nobel Prize winner Eugene O'Neill himself stipulated that his autobiographically motivated play would only be premiered after his death. Today it is one of the classics of American drama, honoured with the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award, among others.
