Every Friday, from the beginning of April to mid-October, farmers from the Sterzing area offer their local quality products at the farmers' market. At the market in the town square of Sterzing, people meet for the weekly purchase of local South Tyrolean products or for a "glass of wine". The varied offer ranges from traditional bacon and “Kaminwurzen” , fresh and smoked trout, cheese and yogurt specialties, homemade bread, organic wines, herbs, honey, eggs to homemade juices and fresh vegetables. Locals and guests have appreciated the market for over a decade now. Tip: Do not miss the delicious “Krapfen and Tirtler” of the Wipptaler farmers' wives!

In spring, nature awakens again after the long winter break, and there is nothing more beautiful than stepping out of the house and lingering in the mountains, meadows, and forests of the Wipptal valley. A light exploration tour through the city center of Sterzing, the airfield, Elzenbaum, Burgfrieden, up to Sprechenstein Castle, meadows, and over Flains back to Sterzing with a local guide allows you to experience the spring wonders of nature with all your senses. The Bee Trail in Trens Freienfeld is a varied and educational themed hike for the whole family. On this peaceful and adventurous walk, you'll learn all sorts of interesting facts about bees, the creation, and processing of honey, and other bee products such as beeswax, pollen, propolis, and more. At the exploration and observation beehive, you can explore the inner workings of a beehive and learn about the processing of honey and other honey products. Possible with stroller; no risk of bee stings. Tasting of honey at the observation beehive is seasonal. Afterwards, there will be a small tasting at the Hotel Post in Trens. Since the time of the Romans, wine has been cultivated on the sunny slopes of the Wipptal. Today, 2000 years later, there are once again some pioneers who utilize the milder climate for viticulture. Peter Faistnauer is one of them; he operates the first winery in the Wipptal. Since 2015, he has been cultivating the white wine variety Solaris. After visiting the vineyards, the special wine will be tasted in the old barn. Dogs are not allowed. It is not possible to navigate the paths with a stroller, and the entire tour is not wheelchair accessible. On Sunday, 4 May 2025 at 6.00 pm in the Municipal Theatre in Sterzing, the Tölzer Sängerknaben will sing an entertaining program of Bavarian, German and European folk songs under the direction of Christian Fliegner and - as a special highlight - will also present scenes from the Three Boys from Mozart's “Magic Flute”, which are sung by soloists from the Tölzer Sängerknaben at the world's great opera houses. The “Young Singers” will also perform some dance songs by Carl Orff, an important mentor in the founding years of the Tölzer Sängerknaben.

The Innerpfitsch music band cordially invites you to the traditional spring concert at the St. Jakob elementary school in Pfitsch

Founded in 1820, the Stilfes band once again invites you to its traditional spring concert in the Stilfes Vereinshaus. The concert is the first musical highlight. You can look forward to a sonorous evening with a mixture of traditional and modern pieces. After the concert, culinary delicacies from the farmers' wives await you at the end of the evening.

Mount up, start cycling and head up high! This panoramic tour takes you from the valley station in Sterzing via Telfes to Sterzing's famous local mountain - the Rosskopf. You climb around 800 meters in altitude in a relaxed pace on a wide forest road, accompanied by a certified South Tyrolean bike guide. Once at the top, cozy huts, delicious South Tyrolean specialties (not included) and a magnificent view over the Isarco Valley to the Dolomites await you. Experience a breathtaking e-bike tour from Sterzing up to the high alpine natural paradise of Pfitsch - one of the last untouched valleys in South Tyrol. The guided bike tour starting from the Rosskopf valley station leads along the bike path towards the south to Stilfes. Via a forest road, you'll reach the small natural pond. Expansive green meadows and a pavilion invite you to take a break. For the little ones, there's a playground... This tour is not offered for children under 10 years of age, except for children transported by parents with a trailer (available for rent at the Outdoor Center). Petting, feeling the soft fur, putting on a halter, and walking a course with the llamas. What could be more beautiful than the ideal interaction between animal and human? Llamas, with their loving and gentle character, immediately captivate children and also enchant adults. Llama trekking is ONLY for children (from 6 to 14 years old). For nature lovers, there is nothing more beautiful than vibrant colors and delightful scents. This tour offers experiences for all the senses: colorful herb fields, aromatic oils wafting into the nose, delightful flavors during tasting, and perfect tranquility. We start with a visit to the herb garden, explore the drying and processing rooms, discover a variety of herbal products, and conclude our tour with a small but exquisite product tasting of fresh tea, fruity syrup, and spicy schnapps. Those interested in herbs will surely take home a wealth of knowledge about the cultivation, drying, storage, and use of our medicinal and culinary plants. An unforgettable mountain experience for gourmets and nature lovers: take the Rosskopf cable car and the panorama lift up to 2,200 m to the legendary wishing bell. Once rung, it carries your wishes over the peaks of the Alps. We then take a leisurely hike to the Telfer Almen and on to the rustic Kuhalm - where you will be treated to a grey cheese tasting. Return via a leisurely hiking trail to the mountain station. Number of participants: minimum 4; maximum 15 people Registration deadline: Wednesday no later than 5:00 p.m.

With fencing, archery and adventurous games, children can immerse themselves in the world of the Middle Ages in a playful way - supervised and age-appropriate. Alpine Gondola Dinner at Rosskopf – A Culinary Experience Above the Clouds On Friday, July 18, 2025, gourmets and nature lovers can look forward to a special highlight: the Alpine Gondola Dinner at Rosskopf. At this exclusive event, selected restaurants from Sterzing will showcase their culinary expertise in a truly unique setting – inside the gondolas of the Rosskopf cable car. Guests will enjoy an exquisite six-course menu served during the ride, where city and mountain come together in an unexpectedly close and harmonious way. The evening begins at the valley station with an Italian aperitif, followed by an extraordinary dining experience served directly in the gondolas, high above the breathtaking mountain landscape with a view of the town of Sterzing. Culinary delights will be prepared by Restaurant Kolping, Restaurant zur Traube, Posthotel Lamm, and Stadthotel Schwarzer Adler. In summer, Rosskopf visitors can look forward to an extraordinary highlight: the guided sunrise hike with a mountain breakfast at the "wishbell". In the special atmosphere of the early morning, guests enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Stubai Alps. In the early morning, the cable car takes you from Sterzing to 1860 metres above sea level. From there, together with a hiking guide, you walk the last 350 metres up to the "Köpfl" to see the sun rise over the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites in the east. Right at the "wishbell", the regional mountain breakfast welcomes the sun rays with a magical atmosphere. A regional mountain breakfast rounds off the programme. Served high up at 2120 metres, this is undoubtedly a unique highlight! A total of four concerts offer a great variety. The sunrise concerts begin on 27th of July with a performance by the civic chapel of Sterzing. The band "Elviras Kiss" will follow on 06 th of August, followed the band "Timbreroots" on the 10th August, Jimi Henndreck" on the 27th of August. In the magical atmosphere of the early morning, guests can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the Stubai Alps. The adventure begins with an early morning gondola ride from Sterzing up to 1,860 meters above sea level. From there, participants embark on a guided hike, covering the final 350 meters of elevation to reach the Köpfl summit, where they witness the sun rising over the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites. At the Wunschglocke, the Sunrise Concert welcomes the first rays of the new day, creating an enchanting atmosphere. To top off the experience, a regional mountain breakfast is served at 2,120 meters, making it an unforgettable morning in the Alps. A true moment of enjoyment, whether alone or with loved ones – unforgettable moments! Knödel, round dumplings, both savoury and sweet, are among South Tyrol's most popular culinary specialities and take centre stage in this festival taking place at Vipiteno/Sterzing in September. Savoury varieties are usually made from white bread kneaded with other ingredients and include Speck-Knödel, cheese gnocchi, spinach dumplings, while dumplings with apricots in the centre (Marillen-Knödel), strawberry and plum 'Knödel' are among the seductive dessert specialities. Of course the feasting will accompanied by entertainment including traditional Tyrolean music by local bands. Knödel spiecialities can be tasted in selected restaurants the week before and after the festival.
