Off we go to the special forest animals on the Ritten...
From the Oberbozen train station we follow the small signs with the Pyramix. This awaits us at the start of the children's trail at the edge of the forest above Oberbozen and will tell us a lot about the wild animals. We can already see the first colored spots shining through the trees. I wonder what that could be? ...It's Fiona, the clever fox. She has found a great place for her den here in the forest.
The path leads us on to Ivo, a prickly companion who is mainly found foraging at night. Well, which animal is that?
Again and again we pass various forest and meadow dwellers. Whether it's Walter the hard-working great spotted woodpecker, who hammers a cave into the tree for his chicks with his pointed beak, or Sissi, the busy squirrel, who gathers her supplies for the winter in summer.
At each of these stations, children will find great play opportunities that teach them about the characteristics of the animals in a playful way and, of course, there is also a description of the wild animal with its special characteristics.
Breathing in healthy forest air and fun for young and old are guaranteed.
Discover the Bee Trail in Trens, an enchanting journey into the world of bees. A walk through history
More than 2000 years ago, the Puster Valley was under the administrative control of the Roman Empire. Today you can still discover evidence of the early history of the Noricum province, which was once part of the Great Celtic kingdom, in parts of Ehrenburg/Casteldare and the nearby settlement area of St. Lorenzen/San Lorenzo.
An attractive and leisurely circular walk between the southern center of Kiens/Chienes and the western landscape area of Ehrenburg/Casteldarne offers insights into the history of the Romans. The importance of travelling and the role of the rest stops around Kiens/Chienes are presented in an exciting way at various rest points, with information’s about the Romans, to bring the past to life.
One of the best-preserved milestones from Roman times is a two-meter-high column sculpted from quartz phyllite. The Roman stone was erected during the reign of the Roman Emperor Lucius Septinus Severus and shows the distance to the Roman town of Aguntum near Lienz in East Tyrol further to the east.
Also worth seeing (only from the outside) is the historic Ehrenburg castle, which was built in 1250, and the nearby baroque parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The beautiful wooden fences and the old dry-stone walls in Ehrenburg/Casteldarne are also particularly attractive. Refreshment stops to take a well-deserved break at: Bar Restaurant Obermair in Ehrenburg/Casteldarne and Riverhotel Post in Kiens/Chienes.

The Speikboden is more than just a favorite ski area. It is also an ideal hiking area. The mountain got its name from a little flower that grows in the high mountains – Alpine valerian, or “Speik” in German – and that is in fact because this lovely flower is often found in the hiking area.
With the cable cars you can reach the "Speikboden Alm" at 2000 metres of altitude or the Sonnklar mountain at 2400 metres above sea level. Both are starting points for fantastic walks and hikes along well maintained trails. Particularly popular are the sunrise walks - to spot the first sunrays while the valley still lies in darkness is a memorable experience.
Easy walk along the Schlossweg from the centre of the village of Dorf Tirol.
Along the way, 14 stations with various texts from the Bible and matching relief carvings invite you to pause for a moment. Both the Lordesstöckl on the way to the forest chapel and the clear fountain at the 9th station of the contemplation trail are always popular with visitors and locals alike.
The history of the forest chapel is interesting: the church, which is almost entirely made of wood, was built around 1917, as the parish church in Sesto was badly damaged during the First World War. For 14 days, the farmers and the priest at the time worked on the church from early in the morning until nightfall. The wood for this came from a hay barn that had been crushed by the snow. In 1917 and 1918, every church service was celebrated there and, especially during the fascist era, the forest chapel served as a hiding place to hold masses in German. Today, the chapel is also known as the Peace Chapel and was restored in 1974. In 1988, at the suggestion of the then parish priest Markus Küer and in collaboration with the Sesto woodcarver Georg Lanzinger, a path of reflection was laid out to the chapel. Near the chapel there are cup stones, which are among the oldest traces of settlement in Sesto and are also the last of the biblical stations along the path of reflection.
