The Lazaun high plateau is marked by the power of the glacier, for example, by an active block glacier and a high moor. You will find very distinctive Alpine flora here, including the dwarf willow (Salix herbacea), the smallest tree in the world. With any luck, the attentive observer will also be treated to rare sightings of local fauna. Numerous marmots live up here in addition to rock partridge and snow grouse.

Directed to the mountain church of S. Vigilius, the faith trail consists of six stations where we can meditate on the values and issues of life. The faith trail is the bearer of a universal message and is an invitation to discover and strenghten our faith. We travel the paths of our lives searching and believing. Take the cable car and the chair lift up. About sunny plateaus teaseling Bühel on Vigiljoch. The road (Mark. 4) leads slightly downhill to the west, crosses the path of a small ski lift and leads between the inn and the church of St. Jocher.

From there you follow the markings 9-30 in moderate ascents through the forests to the south and southwest. From a large clearing, which can be reached on the southern edge, suddenly the rough Bühel is right diagonally forward to identify on which (unfortunately) are an antenna system and a hunter high level. The direct descent to Naturnser Alm is possible, but more difficult. The short descent back to the gate and the circumnavigation is also the next hilltop, where you a beautifully located plateau crossed by the north (Mark. 9B) and short to Naturnser Alm (no winter) descends.

From Naturnser Alm it's off to Mark. 30 in the north-east mainly through forest back to San Vigilio.

Hike to the huts on the hunters trail

The trail downhill to the Wannser Alm pasture is very steep and narrow, but quite manageable. Once down at the lake, there are several beautiful places to enjoy.

The Spronser lakes are found at the center of the Texel Group Nature Park, one of the largest high mountain lake districts in the entire Alps. They are fed with melted snow water and are a real highlight of the Texel Group Nature Park. Their clear waters reflect the surrounding landscape and they are a popular place with walkers and hikers. The ten little lakes, which lie at an altitude of between 2,117 mt. and 2,589 mt., are the highest mountain lakes in South Tyrol.
The lakes include the Kasersee 2,117 mt., the Pfitschersee 2,126 mt., the small Mückensee 2,330 mt., the Grünsee 2.338 mt., the Langsee 2,377 mt., the Schiefersee 2,501 mt., the Kesselsee 2,512 mt., the Schwarzsee 2,589 mt. and the two Milchseen at 2,540 mt.

Shady uphill hike, scenic downhill

Refreshment stop: Magdfeld, Faglsalm mountain hut, Naserhof mountain inn

Starting point of this hike is the mountain station of the chairlift Vigiljoch at 1.814 m. From here, you walk slightly downhill to Gasthaus Jocher and continue to the farmed Bärenbad Alm. Continue on path no. 2, which leads into path no. 9.

At a fork in the direction of Naturnser Alm, walk on path no. 9 A slowly ascending to Naturnser Alm (1,910 m). The way back is via the ascent path.

Variant 2: The return path is via path no. 30 and no. 9 to Gasthof Jocher, further down on path no. 34 to the mountain station of the cableway Vigiljoch.

Starting from the inn Alpenrose the path leads to the church. Before reaching the church, turn left at a little supermarket and continue walking through meadows till you nearly reach the housing area “Sagstatt”. At the little chapel turn right and take the way uphill. You’ll pass the “Auerhof” and then continue walking to the “Wanserhof”. From there the path leads through meadows and forest and back to the inn “Innerwalten”. Follow the pavement for about 200 m till you reach the inn “Jägerhof”, then turn left and follow the signposts. After about 30 min. the path leads alongside the so-called “Römerweg” (path of the Romans), which leads to the Jaufen Pass. After about 200 m follow the signposts to the left and follow the meadow path uphill about 100 m and then take the forest path to the “Santlhof”. From there, you walk downhill to the inn “Alpenrose”, the starting point.

Atop San Vigilio Mountain, you can get close to nature on a wonderfully quiet winter hike without seeing a single car: for a change, why not strap on some snow shoes? From the summit station, you can either strap on your snowshoes and follow Trail no. 34 or take the chair lift higher. From the Sessellift Tavern, you can visit the delightful little Church of San Vigilio, then continue on to the Gasthof Seespitz inn to the protected habitat of the Schwarze Lacke, or Black Lake, where people delight in curling and ice skating on the frozen lake. Trail no. 7 takes you back to the chair lift or more experienced snowshoe hikers can follow the more demanding Trail no. 9 to the summit of Guardia Alta/Hochwart Mountain at an elevation of 2,607 metres.

The trail with a total length of 6.5 km goes from St. Leonhard on the left to Gomion, crosses the bridge there, and then leads to the right almost to Moos in Passeier. The trail winds along the river at water level. Halfway on, it rises in a serpentine configuration, leading through a forest and passing through a vertical wall, reaching the hamlet of Aue shortly before Moos, where the ridge again crosses the Passer river.

The trail is not suitable forpushchairs.

Very easy hike above Tisens/Tesimo with beautiful viewpoints of the Tisner Mittelgebirge mountain range.

From Plan, follow the signs for route No. 24, which leads after crossing three streams to the Bergkristall climbing garden. From there continue down to the Innerhütt inn (1.420 m). Here the Merano High Mountain trail reveals its most typical aspects: solitary forests interrupted by clearings, meadows and mountain farms. Along a series of modest ups and downs the path winds to the hamlet of Christl (1,029 m) above S. Leonardo/St. Leonhard, the main town of the Passeiertal Valley. From here, the route leads south until the double peak of the Laugen mountain above Lana becomes visible. On the opposite side, the rocky mountains of the Sarntal Alps rise majestically to the front.

In order to connect the mountain farms to the valley, the trail run in some parts along paved roads, such as over the Lockengeier farms and from Thal to Matatz above S. Martino/St. Martin (1,052 m.)

A promising hike at the idyllic hamlet of Plazzoles/Platzers

Circular path, going from the mountain station of the cableway Vigiljoch or Aschbach. The trail leads to the St. Vigilius church, already existing and marked, to the Bärenbad Alm and further to the Naturnser soils (Rauher Bühel). The route continues into the Kirchbachtal to the Outer and Inner Falkomai Alm, from there to the "Three Lakes", Tablander Jöchl (2.500 m) and then on the Naturnser Nörderberg to the Tablander Alm, the Zetn Alm and then the Naturnser Alm. The other stations are Aschbach, Eggerhof (St. Martin) and finally back to the starting point via the Eggersteig.

Passing between two manned shelters and the picturesque Seeber See lake beneath the glacier, this hike does not require any special precautions.

From the right side of car park, follow the service road uphill. Afterwards, a hiking trail, briefly bearing left, leads through the forest for a short time and then over a meadow and through a forest once more. One finally reaches a high plateau with numerous hay barns. Head right uphill past the barns ascending through a steep piece of woodland that ends in a shelf and leads along an increasingly narrow ridge towards the peak of the Platter Berg mountain. From the peak, follow the same route back to the starting point.

ATTENTION: Always be informed about snow conditions and avalanche risk before setting off.

From Lana, first hike along the "Aichbergweg" nature trail in the direction of Pawigl and from there continue again to the Vigiljoch.

The special feature of this hike is the 360° panorama of the Rauhen Bühel and the Vigiljoch.

A short and easy hike for the whole family in Quadrat!

Easy and peaceful mountain hike with an imposing view along the way to the High Dieb, the 3,257 m high Hasenohr and the Arzkar Lake.

Hike from Lana: the hike starts in Lana close to the valley station of the Vigiljoch Cable Car. The first part of the hike is identical to the Aichberg culture and nature trail. Entering Raffeinweg, we follow the narrow asphalt road through orchards and vineyards uphill, but then pass by the entrance to the Waalweg irrigation channel path and follow the signs to the Haidenhof and Hoferhof farms.

Hike from Tscherms: equally, it is also possible to start in Cermes at the village hall/village square. To do this head in the direction of Merano and then after 160 meters turn onto Baslingerstrasse and then follow the signs for trail 33A (Lebenbergeralm mountain pasture, no refreshments available), which leads us through orchards and vineyards, crossing Lebenbergstrasse several times, to the Waalweg. We then follow this for 600 m in a southerly direction, pass the Eggbauer and Leitenschenke cafés and continue to the Haidenhof...

..... We then leave the wide road and go tightly uphill on track no. 33A through chestnut trees and shrubland to the Hoferhof café (refreshments available here). Shortly afterwards we leave trail no. 33A and take the track signposted as Ochsentod up to the Vigiljoch.

The exciting circular hike on the Vigiljoch takes you with the Vigiljoch cable car to a hiking paradise with magnificent 360° panoramic views.

Under the small church there is a crossroads, from where you can reach the Bärenbad Alm. There begins the path no. 2, which is in the way nr. 9 and slowly rises towards Naturnser Alm (1,910 m). Follow path no. 9 to Rauhen Bühel (2.027 m), which leads up to the Hochwart. The way back is via the ascent path.

From the mountain station of the Vigiljoch Cable Car take trail no. 34 via Pawigl to Lana. After approx. 1.5 hours of hiking we reach the Greitwies café (Pawigl). The trail marked no. 34 leads to Lana as far as the Teiss bridge; trail no. 34 A leads you along the Aichberg nature trail to the valley station of the Vigiljoch Cable Car.
