A lovely winding mountain road leads you quickly up from Kurtatsch, through woods, meadows, vineyards and fruit orchards to the high plateau of Unterfennberg. The jewel of this plateau is without question little Lake Fennberg, perfect for a summer swim. Although the lake is a biotope with unusual flora and fauna (more than 35 types of orchids, freshwater crayfish and other types of plants and animals),  a small wooden pier with a ladder leads down to swim in the silky moor water while enjoying the views of the tiny St. Leonard's church and the surrounding mountain peaks. Water lilies and dragonflies build a frame for the lake, which is a popular spot for ice-skating during the cold winter months. The plateau offers many walking paths as well as the possibility of travelling up by car, hiking path or via ferrata. The plateau is also an excellent destination for bikers, be it mountain bikers, motor bikers or racing bikers.

Since 1991 Mich Roberto runs the bike shop in Egna. You can find mtb, citybikes, e-bikes, racing bikes and bikes for children, also accessories. There is also a repair service.

In our only recently constructed Gourmet Boutique, you’ll find everything grown and raised on our farmstead available for purchase. Additionally, we offer our house guests a daily Leitnhof breakfast consisting of only the finest products. And, Friday and Saturday, outside visitors are welcome and order a hearty brunch. You’ll find a sumptuous spread including cold and hot refreshments and dishes, with bread, butter, marmalade, porridge, fruits, cake, egg dishes, and our famous quail eggs. Position:
The big Montiggl Lake is located in the middle of the nature reserve Montiggl with its stunning mixed forest in the community of Eppan on 492 meters above sea level. It can be reached by car or by the numerous walking paths nearby.

Topography:
The big Montiggl Lake has a shoreline of 2 kilometres and its surface is around 18 hectares wide. At its deepest spot it has a depth of 11.5 meters. In the north-east it is surrounded by rock, whereat the opposite site it changes to a swamp.

Utilization:
According to analyses the lake has very good data regarding the water quality and is therefore one of South Tyroles most popular swimming lake. In the west of the lake there are hotels, restaurants and a swimming pool with a pier located.

Just 30 minutes and a few curves till you’re at the Dolomiti Golf Club in Sarnonico, located in the neighboring province of Trento. This 18 hole course lies on a high plateau at 900 metres. The unique feature of this course is the individuality of each hole. Depending on your location, you can view spectacular mountains, deep valleys and picturesque villages. Be sure to visit the Tourist Association of Kaltern and ask for a 20 % discount on green fees.

Relaxation surrounded by nature The little lake of Monticolo is surrounded by the nature reserve Montiggler forest - Mitterberg and is also used for bathing. Whoever is looking for a quiet time and wants to enjoy beautiful nature, is right here on the right spot. The public swimming baths in the little lake of Monticolo consists of a splendid lawn and a playground and enchants with a particularly idyllic atmosphere while bathing. The adjoining snack bar is ideal for a snack, a lunch, a delicious ice cream or an aperitivo after a relaxing bathing day. Also available is a boat rental - please contact the snack bar if you want to row across the little lake of Monticolo.

The bike rental ”Südtirol Bike” is situated on the Rottenburg Square, right next to the bus stop “Piazza Rottenburg/Rottenburger Platz” and just a few minutes walk from the historical centre of Kaltern. The bike rental offers a vast variety of bikes, such as mountainbikes, citybikes and e-bikes for adults and children, as well as different bike accessories.

Enjoy your family day at the open air swimming pool in Salorno/Salurn. Waterslides and a big variety of different pool types assure a lot of fun the whole day.

Position:
Imbedded between forest and hills scenery on 514 meters above sea level, small Montiggl Lake is located. A lot of different walking paths bring you to the lake. With the car you can park at the big Montiggl Lake or at the supercenter Rungg.

The small Montiggl Lake has a shoreline of 890 meters and is only about 5 hectares big. Therefore it is a lot smaller then its “bigger brother”, but a lot deeper with a maximum depth of almost 15 meters.

Utilization:
According to analyses the lake has very good data regarding the water quality and is therefore one of South Tyroles most popular swimming lake. It is not directly accessible by car, therefore it's more known for its relaxation and for enjoying the nature. One part of the lake has a grassed area and a small snack bar. Around small Montiggl Lake there is a walking path, along which you can find nice and cosy spots to relax or swim.

To avoid car park problems, there is a public bus to Montiggl and back in the summertime.

The Open Air swimming Pool in Egna/Neumarkt has everything a waterfun-lover needs. We offer you a big variety on different activies: beach volleyball, beach soccer, water zumba or swimming by night. In case you need Internet, we've got a free wifi area.

 

The golf course in Appiano includes a 9-hole golf course. Due to the extremely flat topography and the relatively high water table is - unusually for a place in South Tyrol! - the stylish and scenic main feature of the construction of water surfaces. Rounding out the resulting "Blue Monster" the wonderful and different views into the surrounding mountain landscapes of a sea of apple trees.

The new Kneipp facility in Cauria, near Salorno, offers peaceful moments far away from the daily routine and stress. Relax body, mind and soul exercising the different Kneipp techniques.

The public swimming pool LIDO has been opened in 2006 and has been source of refreshment for the local residents and visitors. Here guests will find sun and shade, action and rest, sunbathing lawns and wooden decks. There’s also a lap pool, a fun pool, a whirlpool and also a pool for children. There’s even a mysterious underground grotto. The Lido also features a kiosk, a restaurant and a paddle boat rental.

The riding stable was built in 2000. It is a big riding school and also a plcace where events are held.

There are also islandic horses. You can ride, take riding lessons and the children can participate in horse week during the summer.

Beside the public open air swimming pool, Gretl am See offers its guests also a large lawn as well as a direct access to the Lake Kaltern. At the pier, visitors have the chance to rent sail boats, paddle boats (limited number) and surfboards. Gretl am See also features a surf-school, a surf shop, a kiosk and a grocery store.

Relaxation and fun for young and old

The public swimming pool is located at the large lake of Monticolo in the middle of the nature reserve forest Montiggl - Mitterberg in Eppan on the wine route. Here you can experience a lot of fun and action. The huge lawn, heated swimming pool, pool bar and restaurant serving Italian and South Tyrolean specialties, as well as boatl (rowing boats) and stand up paddle rental make a stay at the large lake Monticolo a relaxing, exciting and enjoyable pastime. The lakes in Montiggl have been recently re-awarded with the highest distinction of the Italian National Nature Conservation, the so-called "5 VELE" for the very good water quality. That's why you jump here like spontaneously into the refreshing water.

In order to avoid parking problems, in the summer time a bus goes to Montiggl and back.

The adventure park in Kaltern/Caldaro - the largest one in South Tyrol. Exciting and family-friendly The adventure park has 19 trails at a height from 1 to 20 meters and is therefore the largest and most varied adventure park in South Tyrol. You will find 163 elements high up in trees and 24 Flying Foxes. The whole family is welcome - Bambi course for kids from 3 yours on - 8 courses for kids - 15 courses for teenagers and adults. Professionality through long experience: During the mandatory climbing instruction our professional climbing guides explain how to master the climbing routes and how to use the safety equipment properly. Children under the age of 14 have to be attended by an adult on the courses (except Bambi Course).

The minigolf course in Tramin is open from Thursday to Tuesday from 10 am to 10 pm.

Do you fancy a Minigolf match? The Minigolf Club on Lake Kaltern with ist 18 holes attracks not only children and families. It is open every day from Ester to All Saints.

Are you a passionate cyclist, but there is no more room for your bike in your holiday luggage? That's no problem in the holiday destination of Südtirols Süden.

At the lake Kalterer See there are numerous activities and sports to do. Fishing is only one of the activities that are allowed at the lake. There are many types of fish you may catch: luce, perch, carp, tench, eel, bream and some more.

To be allowed to angle at the lake Kalterer See you first have to buy the Italian fishing licence (from the age of 8, the prerequisite is the presentation of a valid identity card or passport). Only by owning such a licence you will be able to purchase a day ticket to go fishing at the lake. Both the licence and the day ticket are available at the Tourist Association of Kaltern (cash payment only).

The Golf Club Freudenstein Castle is located on a hill above Eppan, belongs to the stunning grounds Freudenstein Castle and has excellent and modern training facilities for beginners and professionals, in South Tyrol. In a panoramic position on Appiano, surrounded by scenic vineyards, was the Golf Club Freudenstein Castle, which can be described as a golf practice with integrated golf academy opened in spring 2009.
