    Gilf Promenade
    Meran/Merano, Meran/Merano and environs

This trail runs along both banks from the Gilf Gorge down to the point where the river enters the city. On the right bank, it connects directly with the path that leads to the Powder Tower and the Tappeiner Promenade; on the left, it joins with the Summer Promenade. Gilf Promenade is particularly intriguing for its subtropical vegetation. Its Walk of Poets also makes it the most romantic of Merano’s promenades: modern and contemporary love poetry is engraved onto a series of benches here.

    Montani-Tour
    Latsch/Laces, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

The 9 km Montani-Tour is accessible all year round and because of its low levels of altitude, it can be recommended even for inexperienced hikers.

As of the Hotel Latscherhof, follow about 20 meters the street high up to the asphalt way which branches off on the right and runs through the fruit plants. At the end of the way go to the opposite forest motor road and through the big iron gate. Duch leads a light woods area and the forest motor road after some hairpin bends where the way back starts rising moderately-one reaches the junction-to Morter. One leaves the forest road for short time and chooses a narrow woods path which in turn leads to the forest road and leads to the Castle Obermontani. On a narrow path to the Ruin Untermontani get off and for the wood bridge over, on the right branch off and go on in the direction of the Bierkeller. More briefly, the fruit plant crosses increase after to the Mareinwaal.  From there go the asphalt way through fruit plants back to the start point.

Following in the tracks of the ancient romans
Kiens/Chienes, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones

    A walk through history

More than 2000 years ago, the Puster Valley was under the administrative control of the Roman Empire. Today you can still discover evidence of the early history of the Noricum province, which was once part of the Great Celtic kingdom, in parts of Ehrenburg/Casteldare and the nearby settlement area of St. Lorenzen/San Lorenzo.

An attractive and leisurely circular walk between the southern center of Kiens/Chienes and the western landscape area of Ehrenburg/Casteldarne offers insights into the history of the Romans. The importance of travelling and the role of the rest stops around Kiens/Chienes are presented in an exciting way at various rest points, with information’s about the Romans, to bring the past to life.

One of the best-preserved milestones from Roman times is a two-meter-high column sculpted from quartz phyllite. The Roman stone was erected during the reign of the Roman Emperor Lucius Septinus Severus and shows the distance to the Roman town of Aguntum near Lienz in East Tyrol further to the east.

Also worth seeing (only from the outside) is the historic Ehrenburg castle, which was built in 1250, and the nearby baroque parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The beautiful wooden fences and the old dry-stone walls in Ehrenburg/Casteldarne are also particularly attractive. Refreshment stops to take a well-deserved break at: Bar Restaurant Obermair in Ehrenburg/Casteldarne and Riverhotel Post in Kiens/Chienes.

Ascend the Feldbauernweg to the right until you reach the last houses. There you will find the entrance to the Teufelsteinweg. From here follow the signs. At the end of the theme trail, descend the asphalt road for a few hundred meters and then hike back to the right along trail no. 4 through the forest to St. Martin. It gets its name from the Devil's Stone, which stands in the middle of the path. A boulder with the hoof print of the devil.

In winter you may encounter icy or snow-covered spots.

The Tränkabachl cultural trail leads along a picturesque path that is rich in historical significance. The carefully restored corn mills are a highlight of this trail. In addition, the area around the Tränkabachl used to serve as a sheep round-up site. The animals were gathered here before being driven to higher altitudes. The cultural trail therefore not only offers an idyllic landscape, but also an insight into the traditional way of life and cultural history of the region.

    The wine trail
    Schenna/Scena, Meran/Merano and environs

The Wine Trail ties in with Schenna’s centuries-old tradition of winegrowing. More than 20 stations along the way tell of the work in the vineyard, share knowledge, report on historic events and reveal curious facts about the noble grape juice. Over a distance of 5.3 km, the trail leads, sometimes steeply, sometimes in leisurely fashion, through the sun-kissed terroir and in the process provides fabulous views of Schenna Castle and the spa town of Merano. The Wine Trail can be completed in a good hour and a half. However, the many attractions along the way – such as a flavour station – encourage walkers to take a little more time. Not least so that they can pay a visit to the wine cellars and farm shops, which are practically right by the trail.
